I would hold out before making any deals. I would see where Owens and Fitzgerald end up going first, at least. Actually, only if Owens ends up somewhere where he is auspiciously set up, like Atlanta, Philadelphia or Tampa Bay, or San Francisco for that matter, AND Fitzgerald goes somewhere rather shitty where he'd be entrenched in a potential quagmire at least for a bit, like Oakland, would I perhaps do that deal. That's a pretty steep price, though, for a guy coming off the type of season Owens is, not to mention it was a contract year when he should have strut his stuff, and no less considering the uncertainty of his destination and how well he will make the transition or fit the new system. This is all coming from a fellow Owens owner (in the GBRFL).

My question is how much will TO count against the cap this year??? This may backfire on SF, and TO may have done it to screw them. They have to cut/redo some deals to fit both Garcia and him under the cap. I don't think he is that smart myself, but now SF who was planning on his $5+MIL cap/salary hit this year to be gone will have to find it before March 3rd. Maybe he did it to push Garcia out and he wins both ways?? I doubt it, could be wrong though. This is good for Stegey though who has Rattay and Owens on his team. |
| I love a good conspiracy theory! Anyway, I was wondering the same thing about the cap hit. It does put SF into a sticky situation. They franchised Julian Peterson, so they're locked into a top 5 salary with him. And they gave Barlow a new contract. So this could really force their hand with Garcia.

| I don't think it is an issue the NFL can address. He has a contract and there were certain requirements and obligations made that were not fulfilled. I can't imagine the NFL would get involved in this - it would open too big a can of worms if they told TO and the Niners they could ignore the contract. I'm not sure the Niners can just cut him either - I'm not sure how that would affect their cap. I think they'll HAVE to trade him--even if it is for a seventh-round draft choice. | I hope Tai Streets doesn't become an Eagle. Not that I like what they currently have, but Tai Streets isn't much better. Please give me Justin McCareins.

Here's the LOCAL report from "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/football/bal-owens0304,0,5408452.stor y?coll=bal-sports-football. Let me just add, as someone with Terrell Owens on my GBRFL team, this may not seem like a good place for Owens to have gone, but remember that M. Rob and Taylor put up some good numbers in that weak passing offense last year AND Billick has been biting at the bit to get his Minnesota-style vertical game goin'. Just some food for thought...
