Reports off "the Gridiron Newsstand" from LOCAL sources regarding the Lions' beat-up wideout situation... "Lions thin on healthy WRs" "Lions are short-handed" "Once overloaded at WR, Lions now short-handed" Looks like the time might be right to pick up WR Mike Williams if he's available. The other Williams, Roy, may be out this week and maybe for a bit longer... Mike could assume the #1 role... Stay tuned... ... Also,... my own speculation,... might Jerry Rice find himself a Detroit Lion before the season's out!?!?!?

Mooch gets the boot. I'm thinking that the love affair between Garcia and Mooch went too far. Joey was clearly not at fault when he was pulled. Good luck in Green Bay http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5117306

Did you hear Millen during the press conference say, "We haven't done a good job of developing our young players..."? I think that was a direct swipe at the Moochster and Jeffy. Anyway, what a contrast that is to all the media talk about six weeks ago about Harrington's badly needing a change of scenery. ... So, who is the starting QB in Detroit... this week... down the line??? Might we be seeing Matt Leinart throwing to Mike Williams again??? ... In all sincerity, I REALLY think it is Matt Millen that NEEDS to go!!!

Does Matt Millen actually think that endorsing an already historically legitimized, legendary NFL head coach by saying he'd like to woo him to MoTown somehow legitimizes his tenure as GM? Do you know how ridiculous that is and in how many ways it is? Parcells is a "bring in his guys" type of guy, not a "develop the youth he's dealt" kind of coach. Isn't the latter the direction Millen had said they wanted to go in when he fired Mariucci? And, why in God's name would Parcells, at his age, want to up and leave the Cowboys,... no less for the losing Lions? Millen is such a... From "The REAL Feed": Detroit or Dallas? Parcells may have choice FOXSports.com :: NFL (17.12.2005 03:36) Matt Millen knows what he wants for Christmas. And while Lions fans would say Matt hasn't been a good boy this year, our NFL Czar says the Detroit GM would love to wake up on Dec. 25 and find Bill Parcells in his stocking. Well, not literally. Would someone just relieve this guy of his duty already,... PLEEEEEASE?!?!

Well, the quarterback carousel continues to spin... Harrington is back in as starter, which, despite my having Garcia in the GBRFL, I must admit is probably the right thing for them to do in the spirit of "developing their youth". This is assuming, on the other hand, that it doesn't just cause both them and Harrington to jump back into the quagmire. Even though I don't think Joey is as bad as he has been with the Lions, they were kind of at a good point to both make a break and move in a new direction with a new quarterback and give him a break and let him try to revitalize his career elsewhere. A good couple of games here at the "bitter end" of '05 could force them to prolong this (ill-fated) marriage. From "The REAL Feed": Harrington gets another shot to start for Lions ESPN: NFL (21.12.2005 16:36) Harrington gets another shot to start for Lions by Associated PressALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Joey Harrington is getting at least one more chance with the Detroit Lions. He will start at quarterback over Jeff Garcia this week against the New Orleans Saints, interim coach Dick Jauron said Wednesday."We ...

The Lions hunt for a head coach begins with... From "The REAL Feed": Lions, Singletary to meet about vacancy (AP) Yahoo! News: Democratic Party (03.01.2006 21:33) The Detroit Lions have contacted Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary about their vacant coaching job. Asked if he thought he was ready to be an NFL head coach, Singletary said, "Absolutely." Singletary, an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers, said Tuesday night the Lions have spoken to hi...
