I like Perry. I think Parker has managed to fill in quite well, but now that Staley and Bettis are coming back, Willie could be relegated to mop up duty as 3rd stringer. Perry, on the other hand, is unquestionably the #2 man in Cincy and seems to get his share of carries and catches every week. He's already got 18 receptions for 140 yds as a backup RB. Go with your gut, girl...Perry!

I too think Parker is a very good talent. The biggest downgrade in his value is the goal line situation touched on by rickgpin. If something happens to Rudi Johnson, Perry will be very valuable and in the interim he may get 30 to 50 receiving yards with an occasional touchdown. Keep Perry.

... Well,... I beg to differ here a bit here with everybody, including the chick offering you the deal as her offering the deal to you indicates that in all likelihood she is thinking like you guys are... I like BOTH Parker and Perry as I think everybody involved here does. BUT, I think Parker is more proven. He has shown that he can be an every-down NFL back; Perry has not yet had the opportunity to. Also, even though Parker is "behind"/"alongside" (actually, he's technically still the starter) two guys and Perry only one, I actually think that Rudi Johnson is more durable than the aging, oft-injured Bettis and aging, oft-injured Staley combined. For that matter, I can see, as the season wears on and the Steelers' playoff position becomes more and more clear, Cowher's holding Bettis, especially, and Duce too back so as to keep them healthy and fresh for the playoffs. That said, as I pointed out at the outset, this chick wants to cut this deal. That's a fact based on her making the offer to you. I say cut the deal, BUT get a little (if possible, Antonio Bryant or Terry Glenn-level or whatever-level) sweetener thrown in. Good luck!

Steg, you raise some good points about the injury histories of the Steelers backs. I just saw that Staley will likely not be 100% at any point this year. This means that it is just Parker and Bettis. This makes Parker much more attractive. It seems that Bettis and Parker will be the two main guys in the backfield. This is much different than a three headed backfield. That offense can produce good numbers for two backs. It is a close call, but I would trade for Parker. He will probably put up inconsistent numbers but will have many more opportunties to make big plays. Here is an excerpt from the article followed by a link to the article. Cowher was non-committal as to how he'll handle his tailbacks Sunday against Jacksonville, although it appears Duce Staley (knee) will remain out of the mix for now. "Duce, quite frankly, might not be 100 percent this whole year," Cowher said. "He's working to get better, and at some point, we may need him. He understands the situation." http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/steelerslive/s_383 282.html
