How does that sound?

That's what the piece currently atop "The REAL Feed" is talkin' about.  Doesn't that just have a terrible, incongruent ring to it?  I guess no worse than did the L.A. Lakers after they made their move from Minnesota.  The Minnesota Vikings are such an institution, though.  They move them; it's eventually going to be the Cleveland Browns situation all over again.

I for one don't want any NEW teams entering the league... the talent pool is so stretched already.  As for the Vikings going to LA... it would suck, but Minnesota is doing very little to keep its professional teams in state.

How was the Cleveland deal actually reached? Did Modell voluntarily give up the naming rights to the Browns? Was he paid x number of dollars for them? Just a straight up "I'm Tags, and what I say goes!"? Never really new the scoop. Had hoped it woould become the default process. You move the team, you leave the name and colors. Any history lessons guys?

L.A doesn't want a football team that THEY have to use their TAXES on.

This won't happen unless the NFL pays for the arena to be built.

I think it was Mel Kiper who said today on ESPN radio that L.A. was at least 5 yrs away from a team.

Just my two cents

How about this report currently toppin' "The REAL Feed"? ...

As NFL drives towards L.A., Vikes are in the traffic jam
StarTribune: Sports (20.07.2003 00:06)
LOS ANGELES -- Training camp is set to begin Friday in Mankato, but Vikings owner Red McCombs is stuck in L.A. traffic, bumper-to-bumper with a handful of other NFL moguls and their teams.

From "The REAL Feed":

Taylor hovers: Is sale in the air?
StarTribune: Sports (14.08.2004 08:28)
MANKATO -- Fact: The Vikings are for sale. Fact: NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue has expressed a strong desire for a local-minded owner to step forward. Fact: Glen Taylor is the only Minnesotan with both the means and desire to buy the franchise from Red McCombs.

I am not a fan, but as an NFL fan, I would hate to see the Vikings moved,... period, no less to L.A.

To bring back a dead thread.
I always thought that the Jaguars should move to L.A.
They could stay in the AFC South and actually still be in the South. And does Jacksonvile really need a football team or any pro team for that matter.

And LA has how many times the population of Jacksonville and Buffalo combined???

Anyway, it's all about the attitude.  The best football city in the US is Green Bay, Wisconsin.  What is their population?  Buffalo has a strong football tradition.  Their fans are diehards.  LA and Jacksonville???

The best situation would have been to move the Arizona Cardinals to LA if the league is so determined to have a team there.  But LA is not a football city.  Let them have their Lakers and Dodgers and be happy with that.

Last I heard, if any team was moving to LA, it was Indy.  Cards are in a top 6 market, so they aren't going anywhere.   The NFL wants Bidwell to start fielding a good team so they can take advantage of the market.  As it is, they blackout most of the season.

Vikings are pretty rock solid in MIN for now, as they have a pretty ironclad legal lock on the team.  If San Diego and/or Indy don't go though, Vikes are probably 3rd on the list.

Arizona is the team I would like to see move, but it won't happen.  They're actually building a new stadium from what I understand.  I'm sure it will be smaller than the college stadium they play in now, so maybe there will be fewer blackouts (especially with the Sheriff in town and a hope for improvement).

Indy is a team that would make sense too.  There's no dearth of NFL teams in the midwest, so they could take the hit.

A plan to save the Minnesota Vikings impresses Tagliabue!  From "The REAL Feed":

Tagliabue impressed by Blaine stadium plan
StarTribune: Sports (06.04.2005 22:09)
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue endorsed the concept of a new Vikings stadium development in Blaine Wednesday.

The issue of ownership still remains unclear, though.

Okay, maybe it won't be the Vikings, but the NFL REALLY wants a team back in L.A.  From off "The REAL Feed":

The Minnesota Vikings may be close to having a new owner (in essence) that will thankfully keep them put.  According to "The REAL Feed":

Zygi Wilf is confident he will soon own Vikings
StarTribune: Sports (16.05.2005 23:02)
SHORT HILLS, N.J. -- A confident Zygi Wilf said Monday that he will become the lead investor in the Minnesota Vikings and that NFL owners, meeting next week in Washington, D.C., will approve his purchase of the team.

Above deal done.  From "The REAL Feed":

Sale of Vikings to Wilf group finalized (AP)
Yahoo! News: Democratic Party (14.06.2005 15:20)
The Minnesota Vikings are officially under new ownership. A group headed by New Jersey real estate developer Zygi Wilf closed late Monday on the $600 million purchase from Texas businessman Red McCombs. McCombs, speaking from his San Antonio office, said he spoke with Wilf Tuesday morning to off...

All indications seem to be that this guy will keep the Vikings where they belong... in Minnesota that is.  I hope that remains the case.

Just thought I'd add this LOCAL report from "The REAL Feed" regarding the sale:

McCombs turns over Vikings; Wilf era begins
St. Paul Pioneer Press: Football (15.06.2005 03:32)
The Red McCombs era ended Tuesday as New Jersey land developer Zygi Wilf officially took control of the Vikings. Although the NFL approved Wilf's $600 million purchase of the Vikings from McCombs on May 25 in Washington, the paperwork and terms were completed Monday night.

More on the new majority owner of the Vikings... from "The REAL Feed":

Wilfs aim to be next Rooneys in NFL after purchasing majority of Vikings
FaceOff: Football (16.06.2005 21:18)
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - After finally joining the exclusive NFL owners club, new Minnesota Vikings majority owner Zygi Wilf said he plans to stick around for a while.

Well, it's good to hear that he is aspiring in the right direction.

Looks like they'll be stayin' put... according to "The REAL Feed":

Wilf: Suburb still No. 1 site for new Vikings stadium
ESPN: NFL (20.07.2006 17:16)
Zygi Wilf said that the team's partnership with Anoka County and Blaine for a proposed new stadium remains strong, but skyrocketing construction costs are presenting a problem.

I, for one, do not want L.A. stealing yet another Minnesota team (that belongs nowhere else but Minnesota; the VIKINGS , like the Lakers before them, belong RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE...  Makes me think wasn't Kobe Bryant on the "Love Boat" last year,... evidence the Lakers belong back in Minnesota )!!!

On keeping the team in Minny in 2011 and beyond...  LOCALLY off "The REAL Feed":

Fan's view: New stadium deal that benefits team and state is possible
Duluth News-Tribune: Football (19.04.2009 02:22)
As a fan of the original Cleveland Browns, I know what it's like to lose a cherished NFL franchise. I also know Cleveland's loss means any NFL city, with the possible exception of Green Bay, can lose its NFL franchise.

The talk of a move to Cali rears its ugly head yet again... in this LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed":

California group to target would-be NFL tenants
StarTribune: Sports (08.10.2009 08:23)
After expected approval of an $800 million project, investors will court teams, such as the Vikings, with unfavorable ballpark issues.

Vikes not looking to stay in Minny, at least not "as is"...  From "The REAL Feed":

Minnesota Vikings vehemently reject Metrodome extension
ESPN: NFL (18.11.2009 19:41)
The Vikings have rejected a proposed extension to their lease at the Metrodome, saying their future in Minnesota is in jeopardy.

Could this be the beginning of the end of the Vikings in Minnesota?
