Title: Regarding GB, I have been claiming...
Post by StegRock on Sep 2nd, 2002, 9:47pm
...for months that, contrary to what I perceive to be popular opinion, Favre has one of the best sets of receivers he has had IN YEARS.  Yea, it may be a TOTALLY revamped receiving corps, but make no mistakes about it, it is loaded:  Glenn, Walker, Driver, Ferguson, Franks, Davis, Martin, Green out of the backfield...  Not necessarily fantasywise, but they ALL have upside as ballplayers.  It seems like a lot of dudes are concerned about the TOTAL turnover of the GB receivers.  Well, DON"T BE!  They will ROCK as will Favre!

Anyway, I wrote this today as I (finally) got a little suport from a significant source, SI's Peter King, earlier in the day!  He writes:

"...one look at Terry Glenn and Javon Walker tells me if Glenn can stay healthy -- and that is the biggest "if" in the NFL this year -- Brett Favre will have the best set of receivers he's had in 11 seasons at the Packers' helm. Walker just gets open. Over the middle, on the sidelines. Fearlessly. Glenn's a piece of china. He could break any Sunday. But he is some fine china."

Here is the link to the above-referenced article:

Hope this helps you!

Moreover, does anybody have any thoughts on this matter?  If so, post away! ;D

OK - they are good.  They are deep.  But is there a FF player among them (the receivers - I know about the impact to Favre).

Glenn is a risk.  Driver is the least known guy even though he is the other starter.  Ferguson isn't starting. Walker is a rookie.  So we have an injury prone #1 and 3 guys battling for the other spots.  This is almost as bad as the Denver RBs! (well - maybe not that bad).

OR, perhaps, as good, that good! ;) See what the guy, to whom I made a specific reply with a quote, at the following thread at FF Today ;) had to say:

Interesting take, huh?  Quite the contrary to your thinking! ;)

I agree that the Green Bay WRs are extremely talented.      However, I think Driver is no more than the 4th or 5th most talented WR on that team, and it baffles me that he somehow ended up in the starting lineup.    I honestly can't see how it could last.
