Fellas, this gem was laying on "The REAL Feed" and needed to be shared:

http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/4030114.html.

I don't completely agree with the guy's "tiers". For one, he seems to like Kordell Stewart A LOT. [smiley=nono.gif] But, it's an intriguing read, nonetheless, and may inspire some interesting discussion.

ENJOY! [smiley=lickinmychops.gif]

Definitely in interesting read, although I can't say I gleaned much from it because of his biases.

Fellas, another nice fantasy read from "The REAL Feed" that needed sharing:

Fantasy football: Go for tight ends and wide outs early this year
StarTribune: Sports (21.08.2003 14:56)
As my father used to say, grossness is often next to greatness. Such is the case at the wide receiver and tight end positions, where a few gems can be found among those seemingly endless legions of stiffs.

These two FF goodies are off "The REAL Feed", one of them was actually indirectly gotten by way of a "blog" report/post, which is kind of neat:

Fantasy football: Welcome to life in an auction league
StarTribune: Sports (28.08.2003 10:58)
It's here. For the first time in our league's nine-year history, we're going with an auction instead of a draft. Twelve teams, $100 cap per club, and no idea what's going to happen.

10 reasons why life is better with Fantasy Football. I've been a fan of the NFL for decades, but fantasy football has racheted my interest in the game 1000%. I probably would still have no idea who Freddie Jones was if I hadn't spent the 2001 season cursing his lack of production. Graham Hays really captures how fantasy sports makes old fans learn new tricks.

Here's a REAL GOODIE straight off "The REAL Feed"...

Fantasy football: The art of the trade
StarTribune: Sports (02.10.2003 08:54)
One of the most exciting - and excruciating - things in fantasy football is the art of the trade. There has been no better high in my fantasy life than trading for Shaun Alexander the week he scored five touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings. Conversely, there has been no lower moment than getting suckered into trading half my team - literally - away one season during the mid-1990s for Steve Young, who promptly went down that week with a concussion and missed most of the season.

Nice. light read [smiley=beatnik.gif] for a Wednesday afternoon straight from "The REAL Feed".  It's a mailbag type of piece that disusses the fantasy-league issue of "shady one-week trades" as well as what the future holds for the Minnesota backs, Williams, Smith and Bennett:

http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/4155424.html.

Title: Re: Fun Fantasy Articles from major sources!
Post by Noey21 on Oct 15th, 2003, 3:37pm
One week trades should NEVER be allowed.

If they trade and try to trade back make evryone in the trade free agents.  Or force them to hold onto them for 2 weeks.

One league I am in has a two week hold rule for free agents that way it is easier to mange and you don't get the I picked up so and so 3 weeks ago.........when in relity they dropped them.

Title: Re: Fun Fantasy Articles from major sources!
Post by StegRock on Oct 23rd, 2003, 1:49pm
Agreed, Noey!  Cheating in fantasy football (well, I think, in anything in life... I'm not an advocate of "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'," but that's another subject...) in any way is queer!

...

Anyway, to the subject at hand, the following, straight from the top of "The REAL Feed", is a very nice article about ALL the RBBC's there are anymore.  Definitely worth a look-see:

"The REAL Feed" provides more FF treats, on Halloween no less...

This piece is a first-half (of the season) overview and a second-half preview.  It makes some good cases.  BUT, I don't agree with his second-half bust, at least not after T.O.'s team defeats the Rams this week at home with Rattay under center [smiley=yes.gif] [smiley=ohshit.gif] :

http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/4181859.html.

Now, this piece, I don't know what to make of.  It's a tongue-and-cheek, I think, defense of fantasy football,... I think. [smiley=shrug.gif] I suppose it is an interesting read in light of my (latest) piece (from October 3rd), "The State and Face of Fantasy Football", available via our "Fantasy Articles (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/fantasyarticles.htm)" section.  I think he's being sarcastic... sometimes, I guess. Fantasy football: How to play wide receiver roulette
StarTribune: Sports (14.11.2003 08:36)
In a season where Anquan Boldin has become a more valuable fantasy threat at wide receiver than Terrell Owens, the question needs to be asked - what the heck is going on with this group? Here is a nice read from "The REAL Feed" to get your fantasy-football juices flowing:

And, a link -
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/fantasy/03/19/back.page/index.html.

I would say, as is unfortunately the case with many big-media fantasy-football productions, that this piece is better for just general information rather than fantasy-specific advice.  This guy's "Top 15" list along with his reasoning is rather suspect from a purely fantasy-football perspective.

WOW!  Three on the day (see post immediately above)...  I stumbled on this one while hoppin' around "the Gridiron Newsstand":

"Brandt's fantasy analysis: Week 8 (http://nfl.com/fantasy/story/9005571)"

I guess this is a weekly piece.  I don't know. [smiley=shrug.gif] It's the first time I've come across it.  ...  I found the analysis to be a bit superficial overall.  He does a good job stating the fairly obvious, which is helpful in and of itself, but in doing that he oftentimes misses the nuances of a situation from a fantasy perspective.  For example, I think he gets it right with QB Drew Bledsoe, but is off when it comes to RB Ricky Williams, basing his take on an (apparently) "obvious situation".  Mind you, he does bring to the fore a few worthwhile focal points of his own.  Check it out! Thanks, Steg.  It was a fun read.  I like the article -- I think he's right about a lot of things, as far as non-keeper leagues go, especially as regards drafting defenses, tight ends, and receivers.  The whole Peyton thing is still something I'm not sure about, though.  A lot of it has to do with whether or not you know the guys in your league, i.e., whether or not all of them will keep taking backs after you take Manning, or whether you can still get two decent backs in rounds two and three, given your knowledge of the opposing drafters.

In looking at the Average Draft Position (ADP) for MJD, he was averaging being picked in the second round.  Amazing how short term some fantasy owners are.   This guy was a steal.....just like Mike Wallace and Ryan Matthews.  The upside on all 3 is large, but none as big as MJD!!!
