Is this really what the Dawg Pound doctor ordered?  From "The REAL Feed":

Source: Cleveland Browns, Jake Delhomme agree to contract (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4992744&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines)
ESPN: NFL (13.03.2010 16:54)
In the same week it traded for Seneca Wallace, Cleveland Browns reached agreement on an two-year deal with quarterback Jake Delhomme, according to an NFL source.

The net result here may very well end up being:  now - Delhomme and Wallace; then - Quinn and Anderson.  Is it me or is that not all that different, perhaps even a step in the wrong direction?

I am not one to make excuses in this type of situation, mind you, but the drug was codeine that was prescribed for a bout with strep throat.  That sounds like the right prescription.  We have two bottles of cough syrup that was prescribed for my wife and me for past colds in our house right now with codeine in it.  It is surely NOT performance-enhancing!  Codeine is a banned substance in the NFL!?!?  I mean addiction to it is no good, for sure, but a ban on it!?!? ?.?.? ... That is incorrect.  They have shortened it slightly.  They have made his suspension for the 2014 season.  He can apply for reinstatement right after the 2014 season concludes.  While that matters not for this season, it does matter greatly for 2015 and his preparations therefor.

ESPN: NFL (18.11.2014 10:19)
The Cleveland Browns have waived running back Ben Tate, the team announced Tuesday.

Personally (and, mind you, I have BOTH Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell on my GBRFL team), I think the Browns are REALLY screwing this up.  Ben Tate is a quality back.  Did you see how he opened the season?  He has only stunk it up since coming (feeling his position threatened and perhaps too soon rushing) back from injury.  Furthermore, he is the kind of back that needs to get a lot of touches so as to get in a physical and mental groove (mind you, I think this is a truism for most tailbacks and is why RBBC's have generally proven not to be so effective).  I do think at this point this may be addition by subtraction, but only because they have screwed this up.  Paring it down to two, though, whether or not Tate was "disgruntled", is probably a good thing.  But, this could have been managed in a much smoother manner.

I kind of do not know what to think about this. [smiley=thinking.gif] This guy has been caught on a lot of ticky-tacky stuff. That said, they are piling up. :-/ Did they really think a single male of drinking age was not going to drink at all, though? In any event, what Gordon needed in his life was a Tebow, NOT a Manziel, which is not even to mention that the former is, for all his faults, better than the latter. I just saw on Total Access and read on NFL.com that WR Josh Gordon is going enter himself into a rehab center. This is his decision not mandated by the NFL or Browns, they say the Browns will probably cut ties with him.

Good for him. I hope he gets his life together. He has a world of talent.
