2008 TOTAL Post-season Contest
« on: Jan 3rd, 2008, 6:32pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

COME and ENJOY year four of our one-of-a-kind post-season fantasy football contest that takes you through ALL 5 WEEKS of the post-season...

Here are the simple rules and guidelines:

1) Lineups - Each week your lineup will consist of three players, 1 QB, 1 RB and 1 RC (WR or TE). COMPLETE lineups are due by kickoff of the first game of the weekend!!!

2) Scoring - Simple... 1 point per yard, 60 points per touchdown.

3) Schedule - From Wildcard Weekend through the Pro Bowl...
  Wildcard Weekend - Saturday/Sunday, January 5th & 6th
  Divisional Playoffs - Saturday/Sunday, January 12th & 13th
Conference Championships - Sunday, January 20th
Super Bowl XXXIX - Sunday, February 3rd
  AFC-NFC Pro Bowl - Sunday, February 10th

4) The HITCH - You can only use a player once, i.e., once you have used a particular player, that player is unavailable to you again, i.e., you canNOT use any one player twice!!! If you do so, you will get ZERO points for that player for that week.

Here is how it the contest will be administrated:

1) Weekly Lineup Submission - You are to submit your lineups either to "Referee" by instant message here on "the Gridiron":
(Direct Link) http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?action=ims end;to=Mod1;

or via the following thread:
http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=56;a ction=display;num=1199403306.

IT IS UP TO YOU TO AVOID USING A PLAYER TWICE as per the rules. Management is supposed to be a part of fantasy football. So, do your job! We don't baby people around here. Contacting you to tell you you made a mistake is NOT our job. And, do NOT submit your lineups late, please! Again, COMPLETE lineups are due by the kickoff of the first game of the weekend!

2) Score Tallying and Reporting - Our member bgsgfan a.k.a. Jeremy Miller or yours truly, Stevie Steg, will tabulate everybody's scores on a spreadsheet and we will report everybody's scores and the standings every week. A message will be appended to THIS thread with a link to the spreadsheet every week.

You can check things out on the web. Here is a link to the Post-season activiities portal page: http://www.ffplayers.com/postseason.htm.

-"That's all, folks!"

If you want to play, SIGN UP NOW HERE!!!

Oh, and by the way, commentary and questions can be appended to this, the administration/commentary thread!!!

No one is putting in sign-ups, but they're putting in players.  I'm in.

Just to let you all know...  We have (at least) three more participants who have submitted their lineups to me behind the scenes (thus far,... but not much time left, so that's probably it).  If they don't announce themselves, you'll see who they are when the contest web site (http://www.ffplayers.com/postseasoncontest/postseason.htm) is updated.

Yep..that would be me I guess. I didn't read this close enough. I never signed up here, I just put in my lineup on the other thread around 11 a.m today.
  Does this mean I'm out?

Of course, not...  If you think it through, MC, that would be the implication of Referee's post.

This was obviously submitted late.  I'm not sure how I am going to deal with it.  I am NOT a proponent of the idea that "Well, it doesn't matter.  All the guys I've chosen are from other games than the one in progress."  The problem with that reasoning is that you are (potentially) working with knowledge your competitors did not have at the time of their submissions.  You did evidentally limit your options by one fewer game.  But, that is not necessarily a bad thing.  It could even be a good thing depending on the circumstances.  On the other hand, I suppose that since this isn't a (GBRFL-style) head-to-head format and you were only about 20 or so minutes late from the kickoff of the game, it's not that much of a biggie.  However, if I let this one slide, does that open the door for others to want to claim their "one free late submission"?  I'm not so much concerned about the rule, per se.  I'm more concerned about the ramifications of/the precedent set by letting the rule be broken.  Does anybody else have any thoughts on this???  My inclination is to disallow it.  Sorry, Tone...

Tony is an honest guy.  He probably just got held up & figured "Hey, what the hell.  Put it in and see what happens."

We should figure out how to handle this in the future, though.  I'm fine with the Commish decision, whatever it is.

The rules are set, along with a deadline. So I think the rules need to be followed. Disallow it.

I too would say disallow it.  (Sorry Ton)

Rules are rules.....  and as my tag says, every rule has an exception, the exception can't become the rule.  If you open this exception, there will be more to come.

Let me save Steve from having to make the decision and everyone else from either having to make a comment or defend the comment they post by.....pulling myself from the contest and disqualifing my entry on Saturday. Thanks for the hard work and effort Steve.

Well, I don't care about the T-Shirt.  But since I'm crashing and burning at the bottom this offseason, don't I get the FIRST OVERALL grab-up???
