I'm liking Percy Harvin, in his situation, as best rookie WR in the NFL.  Could contribute to my point totals on several occassions.

Whoever took Felix Jones got a good deal.  I almost took him as my fourth RB a couple rounds ago.  He will have a few big games if he stays healthy.

I don't see any particularly good or weak teams out there.  Before anyone makes preductions, just remember last time when people made predictions, I was picked 9th and CW was picked 10th.  Of course, CW won the thing and I came in 2nd.  So, you never really know.

I do believe their may be a team or three with an edge...but there are eight very good teams...my projection:

THERE ARE GOING TO BE A LOT OF POINTS SCORED THIS YEAR. THE TEAMS NEAR THE BOTTOM MAY ACTUALLY SURPASS MY WINNING TOTAL LAST SEASON.

That should make things pretty fun all season...unless of course you saddled yourself with a poor defense! javascript:wink()

Well, I was just at CBSSportsline.com, and they seem to agree with Tak's take about Markie's squad.

Anyway, to pick up on a discussion some of us were having in the chatroom several nights back, it was mentioned that the luck factor would be greater than ever in this year's CBFL due to the fielding of only eight teams instead of the usual twelve.  I would need to hear this position teased out because I don't buy the claim on its face.  In fact, I take the contrary to be the case.  I can think of two ways off the top of my head that I take it to be the case that luck is minimized vis-a-vis this year's format.

One, the players drafted were by and large "known quantities", so to speak.  The "reaches" were fewer and farther between.  To the degree that participants did reach with their picks, they had to justify it (in their own minds) against more established or at least well-known players.  This is as opposed to the twelve-team format which rendered rounds 11 through 16 to "reaches, deep sleepers, and ultimately guesswork" or, even luckier yet, the unusual overlooked player when it came to drafting the key skill-position players.  Since I run the stats, I saw that oftentimes these late-round draft picks made a huge difference.  Meanwhile, in reality, it's like "your guess is as good as mine."  It was like whoever's late-round guesses panned out REALLY had a big advantage over those whose didn't.  I mean someone who would have pulled Eddie Royal out of his ass in Round 16 last year would have made out much better than the chap who took, say, a much more legit pick like Anthony Gonzalez late in the draft.  To wit, in this year's draft, Eddie Royal wasn't even drafted.  Now that's not to say nobody reached with a pick, but that's different than a portion of the draft's being almost total guesswork and all about luck.  If you reached, you chose to reach.  If you took a lesser known or unknown quantity over a better known quantity, you chose to do so.  For ALL of us who passed on Eddie Royal, we chose to do so.  Percy Harvin was chosen, quite literally, over Royal, not part of some draft end-game where we're all reaching for straws, but those whose straws happen to pan out have lucked into a big advantage.

Two, 33% fewer defenses/special teams had to be taken.  This logically means, especially since I take it to be the case that this is a fairly astute group of fantasy footballers, a potential decreased differential between the top defense and the bottom one.  I take it that the category of D/ST is a great source of luck, especially in this early-draft, no-transactions, best-ball format.  Moreover, generally, it's a notoriously difficult position to predict.  Yet, it accounts for a bunch of points.  At least, the luck factor as regards D/ST has been reduced, at least potentially, by 33%.

Well, that's my "off the top of my head" case for luck's being less of a factor in the CBFL this year.  I see little to no evidence to the contrary, save for the usual stuff which applies to every fantasy football league.
