Hey all you guys who have helped me out with our fledgling little forum here, "the Gridiron" is now officially one-month old! YEAH! HAPPY ONE-MONTH BIRTHDAY TO "the Gridiron"! I would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank ALL OF YOU who have been with me here in the early going and who have understood/been understanding of where I am coming from! I will not forget the kindness each of you has extended to me! Now, it is time for me to hit the sack (no, not rub my sack, you gutter-minds ) here in the ROK! Take care of the this place for me while I am "audi!"

I made the first post on "the Gridiron" a year ago on Wednesday, August 28th at 6:32 a.m. Eastern Standard time. At the time for me it was 7:32 p.m. Korea time. I was back in Korea but still on summer vacation when I downloaded the YaBB program on August 21st and after exactly a week of 16+-hour days of solid work on the project to the day, I made that first post. School had actually started on Monday, but the first week of classes in college... As I clicked the button that produced that first post, I was sitting in Andong, South Korea at a desk along the front wall of my apartment not too far from the front door actually looking around at my Mongolian paintings, really my only form of regular entertainment (that I can admit to at least ), in front of my computer with a Korean operating system, in a HOT, fairly dingy apartment without air-conditioning, but with a decent evening breeze coming through, surrounded by not a westerner in the near vicinity, noshing on some "yang-nyum chicken", hearing only Korean voices, very alone, all alone, quite literally a world away, but insistent on the success of this, for all intents and purposes, "distant" project and the journey I was embarking upon. Here we are 11,550+ posts and a SLEW of smilies, including my magnum opus (), later, and here I am one year further down the line back in New Jersey on a pit-stop of sorts with a thriving web site. There have been ups and downs, but the highs have definitely outweighed the lows. Some have really stepped up to the plate and helped me get this thing off the ground. We now have pages and features beyond the forum, namely "the Newsstand", which make the site a more full experience for all. Moreover, I have made some "real" good and "real good" friends, who share in my passion for this great hobby of ours, along the way. I could not be happier with how things have gone and where we have come to. To have the membership count stand at 225 with the kind of HIGH-QUALITY members we have and the POSITIVE environment we have fostered and succeeded at creating is astonishing to me. I would change not a thing with regards to this and I did not accomplish this all on my own (read it both ways). It is the cumulative effort of all of us that has made this site so friendly, so informative, so substantive, so user-friendly, so endearing, so welcoming, so enjoyable and an all-around wonderful experience. Without your guys' understanding of the unique things I want to achieve here, which are not going to be easy, and according assistance, this place would not be what it is. For that, I thank all of you with all my heart. We have come a long way, fellas, and I welcome the long road ahead of us that we'll travel together. I expect us to meet the challenges that await us head-on and unflappably. I know I will. That I promise! I also know that I will see this ongoing project of ours through to wherever it takes us... But, for now, let's just take a moment to look back at our first year and reminisce and celebrate. Thank you all, again! I am... ...Sincerely, Steve Stegeman

Congrats to us all, but especially Stegey. His brian child has turned into a great forum/site, full of knowledgable guys, and fun for all. We have all become brothers of sorts, friends, compadres, and combatants. We all are wiser because of this site, and I for one look froward to doing my part to help Steve see this site grow into what he ahs envisioned. Congtas again Stegey. Joe/DOLFAN

Our baby's growing up... FOUR years old TODAY, everybody!!! "Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to 'the Gridiron'! Happy Birtday to you!" It seems like a lifetime ago this all began... In fact, it was... I was "oceans" away (well, I guess not from here, but yous get the point; it was born on a different continent),... and here WE are... Thank you for all your help making it AND KEEPING it a reality... ...
