This is more like sad news on the present state of our union... First from ProteinWisdom.com:

"Host hurls Tebow 'Nazi' remark"

Here's the original article from the Boston Herald:

"Host hurls Tebow 'Nazi' remark"

I love how this article ends with the totally non sequitur qualifier, as if it's supposed to explain something:

"'In Massachusetts, there's a certain subset of the sports fans that are culturally uncomfortable with the Evangelical Christian subculture of football in the South and the Southwest,' Schulman said."

Oh, gee, that makes it "understandable". Thanks for putting the hatred in context for us yee-haws.

Look, I've had my go-arounds with, say, the likes of former member MordecaiCourage, and far be it from me to subscribe to the kind of religiosity he espouses. BUT, to the degree that people don't systematize their beliefs, they are absolutely entitled to them and the general expression of them! This is the "middle way" I'm constantly harping on and, at least, a good part of the essence of my dissertation topic that yous hear me talk about from time to time. In any case, isn't that what our Constitution says? Whether or not I agree with his end-of-the-day metaphysical commitments, Tim Tebow is allowed to wear Biblical verse numbers on his face in face paint and point to heaven every time he scores a touchdown. On top of it, he's a GREAT kid, and I do believe that his beliefs work for him and help make him the great kid that he is. So, what's wrong here? ... Oh, right, one-sided liberals and their superior progressive "beliefs". Give me a break!

More, not so bad, but sad news... Coaching great passes... From a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed":

Innovative football coach Don Coryell dies
LA Times: Sports (01.07.2010 22:07)
The former San Diego Chargers coach was considered one of the fathers of the modern passing game. He was 85.SAN DIEGO - Don Coryell, the innovative coach whose Air Coryell offense produced some of the most dynamic passing attacks in NFL history, has died. He was 85.

Great innovator, thank you very much!!! Much exciting football, well beyond the field on which you were coaching, is attributable... and a tribute... to you...

I am posting these two articles because, in the first case, I agree with the piece; in the second case, I agree with the comments, especially the initial one, which, if you have spoken with me over the last year or so on the general topic of unions, you know says almost exactly what I've been saying...  I've contended for some time now that unions have long ago (perhaps not 100 years ago like the author of the comment writes) come to have largely outlived their (real) purpose (of righting fairly egregious wrongs; now, to turn a phrase, they are just fighting rarely egregious wrongs).  Mind you, given the state of flux in which we exist, I would contend that our ridding ourselves of unions be done with it in mind that they can come back in the future if and when they are needed!  In any event, from "The REAL Feed":

Giants center Shaun O'Hara, as the team's player representative to the recently-decertified NFL Players Association, was deeply involved in the protracted negotiations that did not conclude with a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Looking back, O'Hara feels there was no way for the union to ma...

Adrian Peterson refers to the situation of NFL players as "modern-day slavery" and the now defunct union asks for a boycott of the Draft by this year's top prospects... Are you friggin' kidding me?  Regarding the latter, that's real rich.  Ruin what should be one of the greatest days of these youngsters lives for the sake of making a political statement, moreover, one that will someday eventually fade away (read, typical lefty tactic - sacrifice whomever for the "cause").  And, what will really be left?  The absence of the memories of the traditional pomp and circumstance of Draft Day for these kids.  If you think the owners are the only bad guys here, think again!

Anyway, here are a bunch of "goodies",... eh-hem,... "baddies" reeled in off "The REAL Feed" on all this (selfishness):

All these ones regarding Peterson are a slightly different snippet...

Vikings' Adrian Peterson compares NFL to 'modern-day slavery
St. Paul Pioneer Press: Football (15.03.2011 16:49)

Peterson: NFL like 'modern-day slavery
United Press International: Sports (15.03.2011 16:36)
MINNEAPOLIS, March 15 (UPI) -- NFL owners are subjecting players to "modern-day slavery," Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said in an interview published Tuesday.

Peterson compares NFL labor to slavery
FOXSports.com :: NFL (15.03.2011 14:48)
The NFL labor situation is "modern-day slavery," according toMinnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson.

Adrian Peterson Calls NFL 'Modern-Day Slavery
SportsFilter (15.03.2011 14:31)
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson called the NFL's arrangement with players "modern-day slavery" in an interview Friday. "The players are getting robbed," said Peterson, who earned $10.2 million in salary last season. "They are. The owners are making so much money off of us to begin ...

Peter King: Planned NFLPA event would disrupt NFL draft tradition
SI.com: NFL (15.03.2011 11:12)
The labor dispute between the players and owners is now bleeding into the 2011 draft. Peter King details the NFLPA's plans to throw a wrench into the annual league event in New York.

NFLPA: No draft boycott; but 'different' feel?
ESPN: NFL (15.03.2011 11:33)
NFL Players Association executive George Atallah said Tuesday on Twitter that players and their families will be in New York for the NFL draft, but the experience might be "different".

I do not know how to take this report.  The player surely is shameless.  From "The REAL Feed":

Sporting News: Player says football will be extinct
SI.com: NFL (07.05.2012 07:44)

Re-instill the art of tackling; force tacklers to "wrap and roll", that is, tackle with their arms and hands (which would render moot all of these special protect-the-quarterback rules), and the game will be fine and, frankly speaking, more aesthetically pleasing.

This is bigger news for the NFL than the Browns, and it is not good, especially with the horrific Hernandez situation.  From "The REAL Feed":

Has anybody else noticed that the broadcast of games on CBS this season is not smooth?  It has like that strobe effect.  It is very bothersome.  Today, they are blaming it on solar flares, but I have noticed it every week!  Or, is this just happening in Hawaii?
