Just a quick compliment from the league rookie.  I really hate it when leagues play through W17 in standard formats.  The GBRFL bumper league format is a great way to keep playing longer and not lose your studs when you need 'em most.  Great idea!  And thanks to Philly for pointing out links explaining it well and to Steg for the write-ups.

Thank you very much for the very kind words, Call. However, when I read this, I went a little... and now that I've (officially submitted my own lineup and) gone ahead and started processing the free-agent requests for the week for the Deuce League, I feel like I have to post this critical response now.

I want to get the terminology right since I believe it is relevant to a misconception you have about your currently submitted Week 17 lineup (based on the message you submitted in the "Comments" section of the lineup form).  It's not the "Bumper Week" format that is to be credited with the treat of extending the season through Week 17 without the usual threat of losing your studs to rest when you need them most.  Rather, it is the feature of "Extended Play" through the post-season, potentially all the way through the Pro Bowl in fact [combined with our system of "cascading lineups", sort of (see below)], that is to be credited.  (The Bumper Week format takes the place of a traditional playoff format.  It gives you one last chance to move up in the standings by getting one last shot at those surrounding you in the standings.)  On your lineup submission card, you claim that you are locked in to your Week 17 plays.  Right off the bat, with Vince Young listed, that is not the case.  Vince Young may play in the playoffs.  You have potentially "5 Vince Youngs" at your disposal Week 17:  Vince Young (W17), Vince Young (WC), Vince Young (DP), Vince Young (CC) and Vince Young (SB).  If you listed, say, Vince Young (CC), as your #1 quarterback and he didn't make it to the Conference Champsionship, that "Vince Young" would just be ignored and the next player on your list would be deferred to.  Perhaps, it might be another "Vince Young", perhaps Vince Young (DP), (WC) or (W17).  For an example, look at my QB list for this week:

A_QB1:  Ben Roethlisberger (WC, DP, SB, CC)
A_QB2:  Kurt Warner
A_QB3:  Chad Pennington
A_QB4:  Ben Roethlisberger (W17)
A_QB5:  Brian Griese

According to this ordering, I pretty much want Ben Roethlisberger as my #1 QB.  But, if for some reason his injury is unexpectedly bad, I would rather field a "Week 17" Chad Pennington (assuming he plays) over a "Week 17" Ben Roethlisberger.  (If not designated, like Pennington there, Week 17 is assumed.)

The only other thing is that you can only use ONE "version" of any given player.  So, using my list above, if Roethlisberger plays (has GBRFL-relevant statistics) Wild Card weekend, that's the Roethlisberger I get.  ALL OTHER SUBSEQUENTLY LISTED Roethlisbergers will be ignored (in fact, this is actually an instance of "ignoring" a listed player, not "cascading", a distinction which, believe it or not, actually does matter in rare instances).

I DIGRESS...
God, I hope I never have to explain this again.  (I really rake it in here with the GBRFL2, you know.) It's such a knot explaining this.  The concept is not difficult, mind you.  But, that's precisely what makes it so awkward and such a pain in the ass to explain.

Anyway,... Call,... if you want to resubmit your lineup, you've got about an hour and a half... ...

Thanks, Steggie.  I appreciate your help always.

In terms of my team (this year   ) Vince Young was definately the one issue for the Bumper format.  I just didn't believe that Young wouldn't play at all in W17, so the W17 stats would be used.  Although things happen.  You are right about that.

Well,... you got to designate the different "Vince Youngs", in any event, though, right?  You don't just list Vince Young once with the game desired undesignated.  You are to list "each and every" Vince Young individually, so to speak:  Vince Young W17, Vince Young WC, Vince Young DP, Vince Young CC, Vince Young SB, and potentially even Vince Young PB.  I just want to make sure you're following this.  You are not in the running for a Championship this year, anyway.  What I would suggest is for you to look closely at other lineup submissions after I turn the system over here in a few minutes.  Mine over in the Mother League would be particularly good to consult, right?

By the way, Call, thank you for your generosity throughout the years.  You are definitely not one of the people my "digression" there above is directed at.

Ah.  I just re-read the explanation.  I'll admit it, I skimmed it the first time & thought I understood.  I get it now.

I'll go ahead and announce this here (in lieu of cluttering up the "General Announcements" thread more)...

The "Extended Week 17" games are "officially" underway, i.e., the "Game Results" page is updated with stats accumulated Week 17.  Check it on out...

http://fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl2/results.htm.

Kind of fun presentation if I must say so myself.

...

Sorry for the delay here, guys. I'm crawling to the finish line here, though, this year if you haven't yet put two and two together.

I may have helped my cause (i.e., a better draft position) by trying to win. I decided to take Joey Galloway's Wild Card stats instead of using him in week 17 (when he didn't play). As a result I got credited with 9 receiving yards and -4 rushing yards for him. Had I used him in week 17 instead, the lineup would have cascaded to Calvin Johnson's week 17 stats (54 receiving yards).

In the end, it probably made no difference at all. But at least the attempt was there to improve my score.

I don't think anyone here tanked games in order to improve their draft position, but I don't think some people made any additional effort to win games by analyzing matchups and including playoff/ProBowl games in their lineups. Only three people even used the additional week options.

I was pretty upset with myself about missing the bumper week.  Had family in town for the holiday week and forgot about the Saturday game, so when I went to put my lineup in, I was too late!

So not only did I not get to play the bumper week rule, I didn't even get to adjust for week 17!

Cardinal sin on my part.

BOOONG!

Tank it? I started Charlie Batch and Warrick Dunn. I tanked it so bad, I put my line up in from the whale tank at Sea World. My tanking was so obvious that I was waiting to hear a bunch of greif   about it. Funny thing is,   I won both games . All I can figure is that the rest of you tanked   along with me....or you guys really suck!

Either way,...Tanks for nothing!

Not like sluffing would have helped me. I never get the good draft pick.

I actually won both games this week. I think some of the moves I made picking up some young receivers may help me for next season. Now if I only pulled the trigger on that Ryan Grant trade (or kept him when I picked him up early in the season!!!)

I don't know...  I don't know if Ryan Grant would have fit in the Giants O.  The proof could be said to be in the pudding on that one.  At least, I don't think he would have had the kind of success he's having in a West Coast-like type O, moreover, one quite often played in rough weather.  He's a one-cut-and-go guy rather than a Tiki Barber scat-back/slasher type or a Brandon Jacobs north-south BIG back... if any of that makes any sense.  He'd have been misused like another back they ABused for years... ...
