'03 GBRFL Summer Meeting & Draft

Fellas, (PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY, especially before commenting! Thank you!) Starting to give some thought to scheduling our annual Summer Meeting & Draft! I know that Danny is very restricted in the date it can be scheduled for him to attend; Steve too is somewhat limited, at least right in the heart of the month when it is likely that we would like to hold it, and Joe is in all likelihood not going to make it up. Also, we would want to have it on a Saturday rather than a Sunday so we can go out afterwards and really make a day... and night of it like last year, but that is going to be subject to people's schedules. Having it at Dave & Buster's in Philadelphia seemed to be the direction we were leaning in early on, but, based on comments made to me as of late, the idea of having it elsewhere and then going to Dave & Buster's afterwards, an idea I am not at all opposed to, has caused a resurgence in considerations on where to have it and, actually, Morgan's, based on location, restaurant layout and familiarity, seems to be the likely place. So, we would be looking at having it at Morgan's in the north Jersey shore area; then heading on down to Philadelphia for a night at D & B's and crashing at the places of the guys who live down that way. Moreover, hopefully this year EVERYBODY (who is in attendance at the draft) can make it! In any case, let's hammer out the date first. Here are the dates I suppose we should consider: Saturday, August 2nd or Sunday, August 3rd Saturday, August 9th or Sunday, August 10th Saturday, August 16th or Sunday, August 17th Saturday, August 23rd or Sunday, August 24th Saturday, August 30th or Sunday, August 31st I realize that some of you may have communicated to me that some of these dates are basically a no-go for you, but given the feedback I have gotten and the fact that we are really just now officially beginning the process of deciding this, I know that everybody will not be able to be 100% pleased, so I think all the dates above need to, at least, be considered. Just reiterate your limitations herein and let's hammer this out together! I look forward to all of your cooperativeness! Be in touch! Your Commish, Steg

Well... . I have a house at the beach between the 16th and 22nd of that month. Apparently my wife has plans for me the other days. (she actually wants to spend time together on the holiday weekend) My preference would be in the following order. I realize I may have to do the draft by phone and that is fine since my availabilty sucks. 1. Saturday, August 9th or Sunday, August 10th 2. Saturday, August 2nd or Sunday, August 3rd 3. Saturday, August 30th (Labor day weekend-i would have to head home Saturday) Saturday, August 16th or Sunday, August 17th Saturday, August 23rd Sunday, August 31st

I don't have any conflicts at this point. I will be down the shore (near Morgan's) all of those weekends. Keep in mind that the final weekend is labor day weekend, so we could go out that Sunday as well. D & B's might be real crowded on a holiday weekend but I am not sure.

Excellent points, DB, all of which should be considered greatly! The fact that we have an extra day that we can do it on and still go out that night, Sunday, August 31st, was really great to have pointed out! That slipped my mind! I, personally, don't think D & B's will be any more crowded that night than any other. It will probably be more mobbed on Saturday, August 30th. Also, I suppose, if need be, we could even consider Monday, September 1st, Labor Day itself, but that probably won't be necessary or welcomed. Still, though, keep it in mind! Thanks for clarifying those points, at any rate, DB!

OK, i am out of the hospital and back home now. I was in there for 4 days. I had 4 seizures last week, but am still ALIVE!!!... You guessed it, they couldn't find anything wrong with me. I am on Dilantin 3X a day, and lost my license for 6 months. PLus i have a pounding headache 24/7, Oh yeah, plus i had to quit my job...not to mention 3 of my other leagues. I will still stay in this league and the 1 I run until i die...which may not be too far off. I also have a new cell #540-537-0931 NEXTEL#187*102*4230. Just found out my wife is expecting our 4th child in December too. I hope I'm around to name it!! My new home # is 540-977-4855. As far as making it up there, count me out at this point...I will be at the beach from 8/16-24/03. I switched to Nextel so that i could do the draft from anywhere in the United States. I would be better off doing it Aug 9th or 10th. I can't think straight and my MOM has been with me for a week, but leaves TMRW. I'm scared shitless of being alone at home, can't cut my grass or even vacuum the house. I can cook some though. ??? Steve, i would like to stay in the league as long as i can, but if you feel you need to replace me i will understand. I will still be productive and will let you know if i feel i can't perform on a weekly basis. As far as partying, thats a HELL NO TOO!!! I will still stay active in only 2 leagues. PLease call me if you need some clarifications. Joe-Your FF Friend for LIFE.

Joe , feel better, bro'! That's really stinko! As for the mundane, I updated you cell phone number on the "Owner Information" page. If you have to draft by phone, so be it. Mark does every year, and Danny has every year except last when he finally made it up. Not a biggie! Doug, what's up with you naysayin' goin' out with us after the draft? Anyway, as Steve asked, what about Saturdays? Finally, Steggie here has finally scheduled his GRE. I am taking it on Thursday, June 5th at 11:45. The scores on this test will affect my future greatly by dictating my options. (Fingers crossed!) Ultimately, though, it will be out of my hair at last, so I can totally focus on the more "important" things in life... like fantasy football! Whew! I am gonna' nail this bitch , though... I WILL kick the shit out of this... bullshit, rendering it just... bull!

Joe, Sorry to hear about your condition. Hope they figure out what's wrong and the Dilantin helps. I'm sure everyone agrees that you should stay in the league as long as you want. FF will be a good distration as you deal with your health. Congrats on your baby as well. Danny... congrats on your big day and Steve... good luck with the GRE. DB

The GED line was very funny! I have to tell you, though, that Mark and I were on the phone yesterday and we... more like he was coming up with ways to make "light" of the three "big events" here: 1) Danny's marriage, 2) Joe's illness, and 3) my finally taking the GRE, and, anyway, he immediately came up with the GED joke, as well. It was funny then, and it is again now, but, Markie, you were too slow on the trigger! After you think of it, you gotta' get on-line and ! Hopefully, he publishes his other material here soon! If he does, piece of advice to Joe, DUCK! By the way, to our esteemed "Gridironer" and visitor here on this board Philly, why don't you try to meet up with us after our draft if we head to Dave & Buster's in Philly? You are in the area and would be welcome! We get crazy on that football game machine where you throw passes! Anyway,...

Well, first off, I would REALLY like to avoid doing this the first weekend of August. That was really offered up for emergency purposes only. Bottom line is it appears that most of us can pretty much do it on any of the dates. Now, if we are looking at Saturdays so as to be able to go out afterwards en masse, it is looking like our best option is Saturday, August 9th with the runner-up's being Saturday, August 30th. If we are just going to cash in the idea of going out afterwards, our best choice looks to be Sunday, August 24th, but if we are resigned to doing it on a Sunday and Feder is going to be up here the weekend of the 16th, then I would REALLY prefer to do it on Sunday, August 17th; I suppose Sunday, August 10th would be alright and Monday, September 1st, Labor Day, has not to my knowledge explicitly been ruled out. So, there ya's have it, boyz! Tell me what works best for you!

| Thanks for the invite... it would be nice to meet some of the guys who I talk to on the forums here... anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread and once you guys pick a date, I'll check my calendar... Dave & Busters is about a 20 minute drive from my house.

Well, I spoke with Doug yesterday and he told me that Labor Day weekend was a no-go for him. So, based on that and Mark's post, the dates we are down to are: Sunday, August 10th; Sunday, August 17th; Sunday, August 24th (But, Joe and Steve will not be able to attend). And, they're ALL fuckin' Sundays, which poops on our going-out parade! I suppose we still have the option of the first weekend of August and, thus: Saturday, August 2nd. I'm not sure, though, if going out afterwards is THAT important. That is awfully early! Not that we haven't done it that early in the past. Just last year we drafted the last weekend of July. We came away from that, though, thinking we want to avoid ever doing it that early ever again. I guess I will talk to Doug and see if I can't get Saturday, August 30th back in as a possibility. I will say this much on a personal side note. Given the direction my life is going in, God willing, there is a chance that this will be the last year for awhile that I will be in attendance. I don't see myself, as a student, affording two trips back from Hawaii a year, maybe not any. So, if you'd like to see me (and the "Summer Meeting & Draft" show I have been putting on for years now), this would be one to come to.

Spoke to the newlywed Feder this evening! Sounded good! They had a great time on their honeymoon in... Hawaii! Anyway, he told me that, at this point, he won't be able to make it even if we have the "Summer Meeting & Draft" on Sunday, August 17th. So, based on other feedback I have gotten and now this, we should probably scratch that date off the list. I will do so quite literally in the post right above. I suppose we are honing in on a date here.
