Winter Meeting -> Spring Meeting!?!?

Fellas, I have been skirting around the issue of the "Winter Meeting" as, as I have been hinting at now and then, my hectic and protean schedule just isn't going to allow (enough time) for it, i.e. me to deal with it. Those of you who know what's up, know that after "picking up the pieces" of my future and also dealing with ALL the wedding stuff, things have been steadily revving up for me since Novemberish, making for a completely crazy December, during which there was no possibility of having the meeting like last year, and you are aware that I will be in "constant movement and flux" in January and February and probably into March. I am already booked to be out of town from Saturday, January 17th through Saturday, February 28th and that may very well get extended. And, though I typically am willing to come from wherever I am and make the "Summer Meeting" happen, the "Winter Meeting" just isn't that important. Now, aside from my circumstances, here is what has been suggested to me by a couple guys in general (i.e., neither of these proposals were given to me with my specific circumstances in mind at the time)... Dave Bohrer expressed to me a number of times his willingness to host the "Winter Meeting" at his place in Hoboken. I have been and his pad would certainly provide a nice get-together. The possibilities at this point are very limited if I am to have any chance of attending. We have this upcoming weekend, Saturday, January 3rd and Sunday, January 4th OR the following, Saturday, January 10th or Sunday, January, 11th. Of course, you guys can organize whatever you'd like on your own. Please understand that scheduling it for one of those dates does not at all ensure my being in attendance. I probably would not be able to confirm until the last minute. Alternatively, Frank Gonzalez, who just got a new in-ground, heated pool put in, suggested moving the meeting from winter to spring and hosting it at his place in Toms River. This way it could be a pool party. We'd be looking at very late Aprilish, Mayish or Juneish, probably as early as possible so we don't get too close to our "Summer Meeting & Draft" (which, based on certain circumstances I am already aware of, I have a feeling will be quite early again this year, like late July or early August). Obviously, this works for me WAY BETTER. My thoughts in general... The "official" "Winter Meeting" can easily become the "Spring Meeting", and if you guys want to put together an "unofficial" "Winter Get-together" in January/February, go for it. I may be able to attend if you schedule it over the next two weekends. That would be how I would advise proceeding. As for where I stand specifically, I will not take a leading role in putting anything together over the next couple weeks. I do not have the time for that nor do I see myself being able to attend anyway. When I finally get back, I will work on organizing the "Spring Meeting" if that ends up being the course we take.

Frank, guys, any thoughts on what weekend we could plan an "informalish" spring meeting/pool party on, at which we could hammer out any "rules" stuff? Even though there does not seem to be much to deal with this year in the way of "rules" stuff, it is nice to have a get-together besides/before the "Summer Meeting & Draft" to hammer out whatever. That way the "Summer Meeting & Draft" can be streamlined and more focused just on the awards presentations and the Draft itself. Regarding the scheduling of the "Summer Meeting & Draft", that has to remain on the back burner for a little while longer, guys, until I know in stone when I will be where I will be. It looks like Catholic U. in D.C., but I still have two schools I am awaiting word from, so... VERY roughly speaking, we are probably looking at the last TWO weekends of July (yes, potentially earlier than ever ) through the third weekend of August. Please just bear with me here. Thank you!

Right now August looks OK for me but I agree that we should set aside a day as soon as possible. Joe Organized mentioned it in February. Anyway, obvious or not, I totally agree that the later the better. Having the draft in July and even early August sucks. So how about August 14th??? Any conflicts at this point.

I have absolutely no clue how, where or WHEN my future is going to manifest. That's (going to be) the main reason for the potential holdup this year in finalizing a date. I mean, hell, every year I'm the one who leads the charge to get this decided as early as possible and we usually do. This year, unless you want to factor me out, the decision is probably going to have to be made late in the going. So, again, the holdup in finalizing a date for the meeting is not so much due to debating when the meeting will be as it is due to the uncertainty as to when the decison on when the meeting will be can even begin to be made (with any certainty), i.e., I'm the holdup this year. I mean, you guys can go ahead and throw dates out there and say what's good for you. That can't hurt. But, if I'm going to attend, it's all a bit moot until I have a semblance of a clue as to my (still very uncertain) situation (remember this move for me is not just "a kid going down to school to his dorm for the semester"... Gino and I (and my mom) are trying to hammer out our "lives" here... A trip to Colorado to get our furniture is probably going to have to happen... What kind of side work (for the summer) I find and where, here or in D.C., and until when I will work will be dealt with... and on and on). And, regarding the perennial, general concern, which I am typically the one harping about ironically, of having it as late in August as possible is, as always, going to boil down to people's personal schedules, this year, especially mine. In any event, what about that "May get-together" I brought up four posts above? Absolutely no feedback on that yet.

Neither of those dates are good for me, in fact, most weekends the next month or so will be tough... so plan around me and I will do what I can to make it on the day y'all get together.

| I'm down with this. How is everybody else (besides DB) for an "informal" pool get-together at old Franco's on May 29th or June 5th? Also, in consideration of DB's inability to attend on those dates, any other available dates in June, Frank?
