Trade Talk (NOT Trash Talk)...

I am (probably) in the market for an extra first-(or maybe even second-)round (but NOT both) free-agent pick this week. I would be willing to offer any commensurate future free-agent pick(s) in return. Of particular note, I have TWO first-round free-agent picks Week 16, mine and Warner's. Contact me, preferably, 1) by private message here on "the Gridiron" if you don't want people to see what you are offering, 2) right here on this thread (let's not turn this into a trash-talkin' thread, though, please), or 3) by phone (my numbers are on the "Owner Information" page at the site; home (Hawaii #) is better than cell (Jersey #)). E-mail is NOT a good way to contact me considering the deluge of junk mail I get anymore (because the sites I run). Okay... Let me hear what yous got...

Fellas, here's a pathetic tale... I have EIGHT quarterbacks on my roster and not one starter for this week... I wouldn't mind having one to field against Mr. Trout this week... So, I'm in the market for a deal... That said, the facts have to be faced... I am no longer really playing for this season. I'm just looking to a) not roll over here Week Nine and hand a guy a win... and b) to put myself in a position where I can "enjoy" this week's games, which is the whole point of the hobby, and not just want to shut the TV off... and throw it out the window. Point being, though, I'm not really desperate... I, of course, am not looking for charity... On the other hand, I'm not going to give up a whole hell of a lot to salvage ONE game in an already lost season. I'm not going to give up one of the young guns I'm rolling my dice on for the future for some one-game stop-gap band-aid to be used in a game I have no (real) vested interest in winning. My beating Trout this week is of more significance and value to some of you more than it is to me... as if it is to me at all. My point with all of this is just to preface that we are dealing with "metavalue" here much more than direct value, objective, according to one's roster or otherwise, i.e., in dealing with me here this week, the perceived, objective value of whatever players, picks, whatever, is involved is not at all the key determining factor as it would normally be. The "metavalue" of the deal looked at from a macro perspective, i.e. all things considered, is more so the key. The two kinds of deals I see being able to cut are: 1) one that sends me a top-3 free-agent pick, so I am guaranteed one of the three free-agent quarterbacks starting this week or 2) one in which you send me a quarterback. However, in either case, given other free-agent needs I have this week, it would be best if I in return could give you a player rather than (just) (a) free-agent and/or draft (pick or) picks, i.e., a player(s)-for-player(s) deal is the i"deal", so to speak, here (with free-agent and/or draft picks being of only secondary consideration). SO, whatchyas got, fellas??? ...

| With all that being said, a deal hath been struck: Stegeman gets: Stegeman's Week 9 1st round f/a pick Warner's Week 10 1st round f/a pick Warner gets: Stegeman's Week 10 1st round f/a pick Warner's Week 16 1st round f/a pick

Just making this public record,... not that I really think it will matter (on a couple fronts), but I just want to be cautious. Early in the week I had a very small, mind you, deal on the table for Rob Pak for which I had told him that if he wanted it, he did not need my confirmation, i.e. that it was a done deal as far as I was concerned, i.e., all he would have to do is call, private-message, e-mail me back or just post right here on the board indicating that he accepted it and it was done. In any event, I never heard back from him and despite having called numerous times I've been unable to get through to him. At this point, I have cut a(nother very small) deal with Steve Warner and in light of that deal, am pulling that "done" deal "on my end" to Pak off the table. I just left a phone message for him, so,... whatever,... He probably doesn't even want to do it, anyway. I'm just being extra cautious. It's nice to have things here in print and time-stamped... That's all!

Steve,... nice deal... By the way, (as things stand right now... if you do not make another trade that affects things) do NOT forget to include a drop due to this uneven trade. Secondly, I have the #1 free-agent pick this week and it's a goodie FOR SURE (hell, even my #11 free-agent pick could be interesting). I wouldn't mind bringing Curtis back or procuring Gore or Lewis or Pennington... Along with the aforementioned free-agent pick(s), do any of the following interest you: Antwaan Randle El, Troy Williamson, Terry Glenn, Eddie Kennison, Isaac Bruce, T.J. Duckett, Brian Griese, Brooks Bollinger? Put the puzzle pieces together and tell me what you come up with...???

Hey, Steve... How about... choose any TWO, Eddie Kennison, Isaac Bruce, Antwaan Randle El, Brian Griese or Brooks Bollinger FOR Curtis Martin?
