Trade Talk Thread

This is a thread on which we can all conduct some general trade talk,... make general trade proposals, talk about "what's available" on our teams, announce trades pulled off, etc., etc. Let's maintain this one as our trade talk thread henceforth. I'm actually going to kick it off right now... ... I am in the market for at least one extra free-agent pick this UPCOMING week, Week 4 that is. Depending on your position in the standings, it could be a first or second rounder. In return, there are various options, but in terms of free-agent picks, probably a second-round pick or two... as I'm probably looking at having the first or second pick every week and that's a little more pricey. But, it ultimately depends on your position in the standings and what you want in return or, in the case of free-agent picks, when you want it/them. I also have low-end players to offer in return and, I suppose, draft picks are always an option (though I have NO first-rounder in 2008, 2009 or 2010). Also, I kind of wouldn't mind getting my hands on two extra ones this week, if one of them is high "enough". I hope someone's interested...

I want #1 guys...Starters, not RBBC guys. Trout no thanks on that deal we talked about last night. we are at a good starting place though. |
| Yea, yea. I got QBs too if you want them.

| I had to reply to this post. Joe, I always have fun giving you crap, and this is no exception. First off, I don't think it is necessary to preempt your discussions on trading with the information that you want something good in return. In most cases, someone wanting to make a trade with you probably knows in advance that you are not willing to accept a $10 gift certificate to Bed Bath & Beyond for one of your players. Although, after looking at the QBs you are offering, you might actually consider it. So, let's look at what is available. You have taken Brady off the table, an understandable move. What is left? Jon Kitna You win here. He is worth your asking price. Chad Pennington Really? A #1 RB or #1 WR? Maybe...a #1 kicker or TE. Daunte Culpepper This guy is your downfall. You are in total man-love with him. So much so, you named your GBRFL team after him several times, along with your WNBA fantasy team. He was playing against Miami and was juiced. Simply put, he is poo. Again, a #1 kicker or TE. Or a couple of free agent picks. John Beck Isn't he a novelist? I will give you a genuine Ronald McDonald autograph that one of my kids received at a birthday party (if I can find it). If not, I will dig up a Happy Meal toy out of one of our cars. J. T. O'Sullivan O'Shit. A great candidate for the Bed Bath & Beyond cert. IN SUMMATION: This is probably how your post should have read: I am looking to trade Jon Kitna. Let me know.

I've been contacted now about the Patriots by not a few of you... Here's the deal... The Bears were traded once during the offseason from Markie to Joe. That was the trade that netted Markie a first-rounder and Bernard Berrian. BUT, the Bears were also traded from Trout to Markie during the season... during crunch time. Along with the Bears Markie got Brandon Jacobs. In return Trout got Terrell Owens, a blue chipper, and David Garrard, who is worth mentioning (the other two players they exchanged are not even worth mentioning). The main point being, Trout got a blue chipper. Given my team's "position" in the standings (although I did just beat our league leader ... ), for the '07 Patriots I want something commensurate to what Trout got for the '06 Bears. Like DT last year, I'd be willing to add a player like Derrick Ward into the deal. I just want to come out with a "real" player in the deal,... preferably a receiver (the position most easy to part with, frankly speaking). That's all. See what you can do... Make me an offer... I can't refuse.

Anybody interested in my first pick of free-agency this week,... i.e. JESSE CHATMAN!!! That's who I am taking, but I am willing to move the pick/HIM if the deal is decent. I know it's VERY late in the going here. I didn't want to make this post before I had the results up for the week. (Again, sorry for the holdup. ) BUT, I still have a LOT of Week 8 stuff still ahead of me tonight. I WILL be awake until (at least) 2:00 a.m. my time here in Hawaii. So, I don't know how much I'll wake up before gametime, BUT, if you read this and are interested in dealing, even though it may be a crazy hour for me, give me a call... at my HOME phone. You all are welcome to give me a buzz ANY TIME tonight. I'll leave my ringer on until I go to bed. Once I do, no worries, it'll be off. Again, you want the pick/JESSE CHATMAN, you got all night (my time) to give me a call. Over and out... ...

I know this is not on the topic of trades but i need to chime in. Just want to say that i dont give a shit where my team places this year but regardless i must pick myself for the gm of the year thus far. 1) Injuries "which i know everyone has" Jake Delhome gone for the year, Javon Walker basically gone for the year, Rudi Johnson out 6 weeks, Mike Pittman gone for year. Shit DF in San Fran 2) Pick ups- Washington DF who was great until a week ago but picked up the Saints which led me to beat the top team in Hahn. Wes Walker pick up, Trent Edwards Pick up, Cleo Lemon another Free Agent Pickup, Oh Bobby Engram who was a stud the last few weeks. I know i am at that top of the standings yet but with all things considered when losing, it has not been by much with exception to one week in which my entire team was off on byes. Got Rudi coming back this week, some young qbs in the pipeline to possibly trade you one of you, things are looking up!

Well, I don't think I "must pick myself for the gm of the year thus far." But I don't think in either of the two categories you mentioned, Danny, have you done a better job than I have, although probably others have. Here are the categories: 1) Injuries: I have 3 running backs on IR for the year -- Ronnie Brown, Deuce McAllister, and DeShawn Wynn. That is an entire starting lineup's worth of running backs. Marvin Harrison, as of Sunday, will have missed about half the year. 2) Pickups: I grant you that Wes Welker was a GREAT pickup. But Cleo Lemon -- come on, who thinks he'll do anything? NO ONE. Trent Edwards -- not bad, but not great. How does his future look this year? I picked up (1) DeShawn Wynn, who was the main back until he went on IR; (2) Kenny Watson, who has started for Cincinnatti for several weeks now (a no-brainer pickup, kinda like Edwards and Lemon); (3) Derrick Mason IN THE DRAFT, which looks like the genius move of the year; (4) Jason Witten (I must give props to Steg here: both of us picked up tight ends the same week -- he got Dallas Clark and I got Wittten), who is averaging 6 catches and 80 yards per game, with 4 tds in 7 games, and (5) the New York Giants defense, which has turned out to be a wonderful fantasy defense, on par with, if not better than, the Ravens (so far this year). I assume others among us can list the same number of quality pickups (and injuires overcome) which makes it hard to claim you're the gm of the year. Of course, Danny, we have to recognize the fact that since we were at the bottom of the standings for a while, we got first dibs on obvious pickups (like Trent Edwards, Cleo Lemon, Kenny Watson, and DeShawn Wynn).

Time is surely a waning, and I am not really in a position to do much "hammering out" of a deal. Right up until kickoff, I will be amidst the heart of my workday. BUT, if anyone wants RB Adrian Peterson of the Bears or, in other words, my first pick in free-agency this week, he/it is gettable for the right price. The best way to do this would probably be by private messanger here on "the Gridiron". Alternately, my office number is (808)923-8009. It's fine to call, but I won't be able to give you too much time. So, the more specific and targeted you can be, the better! And, PLEASE, if you are interested do NOT leave it to the last minute. Once it hits 8:00, 3:00 my time, my lineup is IN, and that's that for that. I ain't gonna sweat out any last-minute splitting of hairs. Out, Steg
