2007 Championship Run

This is going to be interesting.

The way I see, I have tiebreaker over Mark and Frank has tiebraker over me.  I play Mark this week and Frank plays Steve.  So, it is fair to say that Mark and I control our own destinies (the only way I do not, I believe, is if Frank has a higher point differential than Mark after this week, which is not likely, putting him in the one seed, me in the third which means that I do not play Frank week 17.  In that case, I could win out and still lose the championship to Frank).

In any event, if I beat Mark this week and Frank wins too, we would have a three way tie going into week 17.  I suppose the order then comes down to points differential because the head to heads are split?  In that case, Mark (who has the best differential by far, for now) has the advantage right now because he gets to play the worst team.

I think I need to root for Frank to beat Steg.  In that 3 way tie scenario, I would rather be the 3rd seed to play the 2nd and 4th seed rather than the 2nd seed who plays the 1st and 3rd.  So, go ahead and win Frank, i will take care of Mark and we'll decide this thing in week 17.

The possibilities are already mind-boggling with all of the playoff/pro bowl possibilities.  Maybe this all happened last year and I wasn't paying attention but this will certainly be a crazy finish this year.

It's going to be a hell of a finish. Best in a while i think, aside from a few years ago when Steve and I had the same record but he won the tie breakers.
Hold on to your underpants boys, this is going to be interesting.

Second, for some reason I don't think it's going to be me playing that last-place-versus-first-place spoiler game during our extended Week 17... I think it'll be a chap who either looks a little like this... or acts like this... and plays with dreidels...

Well, I've done my part to bollix things up...

Your part to bollix "things" up?  You beat me and then lost to Mark.  I don't know what bollix means but it seems like you did your part to bollix me up.

Anyway, Mark definately has the edge on me going into tonight's game.  I think that if Cutler passes for 211 yards or if LT gets a receiving TD, it is over for me.  If not, it will be close but I like my chances in that unlikely event.  How 'bout a nice Christmas eve miracle for 'ol DB here to stay alive one more week.

Well, while I did bollix you and Frank up at the end of the season here, DB, I did post a winning record against Markie, something I did not do against either you or Frank.  Anyway, I surely wasn't just yet another last-place team that just laid down and got rolled. ...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all GBRFLers! Sorry I haven't had a chance to participate in this discussion until now - didn't want people to think I didn't have an interest (just swamped like I am sure we all are).

I think DB got me this week so it's at least looking like a tie between us. As for Frank, you can suck it. And I guess while we are at it - Dave, you can suck it, too. I want this one this year and I have tried to be nice and positive in the past and all it got me was my stupid team name. So, I am going to go the other way and be obnoxious. And probably get wiped from contention. But I will have fun in the meantime.

Here's to the both of you losing miserably and to me holding the shining crown of the GBRFL gloriously over my head for the lowly masses to gaze upon in awe and wonder. And then I will gently move to one knee so Feder can get a good look at it as well, you weenie bottom-dweller.

Well that doesn't sound like much of a Christmas Spirit. So the damn Jaguars did me in this year. oh well. At least I think so, but as usual we have to wait until 3-4 decades after the games are played to get the official results. I can't wait to see how Larry FREAKIN Zsonka and Gale FREAKIN Sayers made out against the Baltimore Colts defense in my first game.  (That's an opening for the pterodactyl to start flapping his beak).

Oh well. Perhaps next year FREAKIN  Brees will lose the FREAKIN Jeckel and Hyde syndrome, and FREAKIN Westbrook will actually stroll into the end-zone like any other FREAKIN self absorbed, millionaire, FREAKIN football player.

......and to all a good night. God bless us every one.

What an unexpected (and ridiculous) turn of events last night.  I control my own destiny and then get smoked by teams that do not even bother to put in lineups.  Pak, I can almost somewhat understand because he is the last place teame and doesn't give a crap.  I don't understand why Mark would not put in a lineup, but it may work out for him.

The Pats defense got killed, setting up a likely win against me by Pak, who had incredible games from Manning (what the f???) and Maroney (2 TDs).  I would need (and will get) a monster comeback to beat Pak this week.  A win by Pak opens the door to Mark and Frank.

Trout, who plays Frank, at least put in a lineup but a ridiculous one.  He may have no QBs playing this week (but could have at least had Garcia in the WC game).  I guess it's all about Damon Huard if he plays.  But TO this week and not in the playoffs?  Come on dude, TO is out this week! Maybe Trout knows what he is doing but it seems to me that he forget about the whole extension into the playoffs thing?

Long story short - I done F*$Ked up. I truly thought that the NE/NYG was Sunday, thus giving me all last night to figure out who to play when. I am not happy with the Saturday game.

So?  Who won the league?  If I thought it was me, I would have crunched the numbers.  But my team was playing so poorly on Saturday/Sunday, I had to turn off the TV.  Unless I am mistaken, I assume I lost both and that the winner of the Frank/Mark game wins the championship.  Will Mark's failure to put in a lineup coupled with Trout's failure to use our playoff system cost Mark the championship or will Frank (who needed to win out and have me lose out) pull off a miracle?  All I know is that I am bitter but my bitterness is mitigated by the fact that I thought I lost it week 16 and was lucky to even have a shot in the end.

I haven't crunched the numbers either but my team faired OK not great. I'm not very confident either, but i think the big wild card is that i still have the Colts Defense AND Payton Manning in the Division game. We may not know until after that. I'll save my crunching until then.

Our "Extended Week 17" games are "officially" in progress...  Check out the "Game Results" page heading into the commencement of Wildcard Weekend...

http://fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/results.htm.

Enjoy! It's gonna be a hell of a run to the title...

...

Sorry for the delay here, guys.  I'm crawling to the finish line here, and, ultimately, since this wasn't the most pressing of matters in life, it got put off until the last minute.  That's no excuse.  It just is what it is.  Again, I apologize.

That's a messed up crack Bohrer.  I also didn't submit a lineup b/c I thought that the game started on Sunday as well, but it didn't really matter b/c I was going to start the guys I did anyways.

Hope that I prevented you from winning the league

Pak, you are a lucky fool.  Or maybe you are just a genius who could predict that the Giants would play Eli in a meaningless game and that he would have the game of his life.  No one would think that the Pats would blow the Giants out and Eli would sit the second half???

Did you cost me the league?    If Mark beats Frank, then yes, you cost me the league.  If Frank beats Mark, I would have lost anyway.

Pak, I hope that your win over me costs you last place and that you lose the lottery and the next Adrian Peterson.  Of course, with your track record, even if you had the top pick, you would screw it up.

The way I see things (I may be wrong so please correct me):

1) I have unofficially beat FG 40-18.
2) If San Diego loses next week, I will beat DB and commence to trash-talking. The SD kicker is the unknown and his stats for either the Wild Card game (5 total points) or the Superbowl.

If SD wins next week:
3) The game is still up in the air. I have given all the passing points possible to DB. Favre would help the DB cause greatly by running for 29 yards. Kaeding would need a game of 4 FGs in the Superbowl, a reachable goal.

Oh, the drama...all on the leg of a kicker.

Well, boyz, the 2007-08 season hath finally come to an end,... and we have a Champion. Congratulations to all our plaque winners, 3rd Place - Dave Bohrer, 2nd Place - Frank Gonzalez,... and our 1st Place/League Champion - Mark Hahn! ...

As the final standings will show, this was definitely a three-horse race,...

... a year where it was those three and, then, the rest of us, the haves and the have-nots.  Nevertheless, what a season it's been...  An unprecedented SEVEN OVERTIME games!  WW!!!  And, it was a nailbiter for the championship.  Great job, guys! No one was givin' up his shot at the crown without a fight.

...

A couple mundane administrative notes...  Right now, only the "Standings" and "Results" pages are up-to-date.  When everything on "the Gridiron" closes out for the season, I will update the rest, the "Champions" page, home page and such.  Also, I had posted one mistake.  It was correct on the spreadsheet, but not on the "Results" page.  In the game between Warner and T-Rave, the score was correct, but Warner won, not T.  That's all!

I humbly and graciously accept the crown for the 2007 GBRFL season.

Feder, I now share the honor with you of having 3 titles (although I did win the very first GBRFL championship AND my other two titles have come in much more competitive situations than your very early ones so I would say mine carry much more weight) and I am trying to knot it up with you, Steg.

An interesting year for sure. Especially since I totally blew it on the WK 17 continuation and that made all the difference. My rule has hurt me twice and brought me the championship this year.

Thank yous go out to Green Bay, Cutler, my receivers and of course Mushin.

Kudos to Dave and Frank for keeping it close......
