Warner said that August 1st...if we change the rule...is a bit too early. I admit I did not look at the calender. August 1st is a Friday which makes no sense. It should be on a Sunday night, after another preseason game, or on a Monday. Therefore, I suggest Monday August 4th as a cutdown date. Then the lottery can be August 5th. That gives us 11 days to make trades. I subtracted the day of the draft since it will be a half day. Again I am just tossing this out. Last year the cutdown date was 1 week before the draft, and that date was Sunday August 12th, with the draft August 19th.

The cut-down date has traditionally,... ALWAYS been exactly one week before the draft date. As the Summer Meeting and Draft is scheduled for Sunday, August 17th, the cut-down date will be Sunday, August 10th. Cuts would need to be in on that date by no later than 11:59:59 p.m. (EST). They can be submitted to me by phone, e-mail, private message here on "the Gridiron", or, preferably, posting them here on our board (on an appropriately titled thread).
