I wouldn't be surprised if Jamal...

...Anderson backed out of the New England Patriots deal because he (and his agent) wanted to see how the last set of preseason games went and what kind of injuries might occur.  I also think that the situations of Thomas Jones, based on performance, James Stewart, based on a late knee injury, and Edgerrin James and, moreover, Jamal Lewis, based on untested ACL's and the lack of competetent supporting casts to provide breathers, are quite tenuous and provide intrigue to Anderson (and his agent).  I think there could eventually be situations out there better for Jamal and I think his excuse for backing out is not completely the case.

Any thoughts?

My first thought was the team doctors must have not passed him on the physical and Anderson backed out so as to not have that info available to  other teams.

I kind of wondered if the deal was legit when I read a quote from his agent that said Jamal was signing with the understanding that he would be given a chance to compete with Smith for the starting job.

I wouldn't be surprised if people are reading too much into Jamal not signing.  I truly think the Patriots decided his knee was screwed up, he was out of shape, and overweight.

I think they just "mutually" agreed to let him save face....

Have to upchuck this one back up as it is once again being rumored that J. A. and the Patriots are sniffing at each other's asses again.  And you thought this thread would be buried because the last post made to it dates back to only 2 days after our opening ceremonies on "the Gridiron". No, no... No unnecessary pollution in this forum!

Not a bad fit IF he can stay healthy, although Smith did okay two years ago. They just got away from running the ball last year.
