The contentions made in these articles are that Weinke has not had a good preseason, which was epitomized by his last outing.  His whole offseason, allegedly, has been kind of shoddy.  At any rate, I would not be totally hands-off regarding the Carolina quarterbacks like some of the experts are suggesting.  I really think rookie QB Randy Fasani out of Stanford has potential.  This move might be more of an indication of that than their really wanting to start Peete for very long, i.e., it may just be an indication of "away from Weinke" and toward the more obvious long-term choice.

Good analysis, but my gut feeling is that they're going in the direction of "we don't want to finish the season without a win" because it looks like they might end up that way.

They need to get Muhsin and Walls involved.  Fast.

You are going to find out soon enough that I am almost exclusivly  Dynasty Fantasy Football player, and gear myself towards that aspect.  My greatest joy is in finding players who come out of nowhere and develop into NFL players/stars

With that in mind, if you are in a Dynasty League, you need to look long and hard at Fasani.  Randy has all the skills to play in the NFL.  The only real knock against him has nothing to do with size, ability, or skills.  He is seen as not being a leader who is able to carry a team.

From my research and evaluation, I see that as a minimal negitive if it exists at all.  I believe that comment to be way over blown, and mostly untrue.

Long term, and even in this season, Fasani will be given every opertunity to become the next starter of the Panthers.  At some point in the season, he will be given the Rock, if for no other reason than Wienkie at 30 years old is not in Fox's future, and Peete is certainly not the future.  (Funny side comment, when Peete takes the field this weekend, it will be his first start of the Century)

If you are looking for a starter, who could become the long term starter of the Panters, pick up Fasani now if you have the room.  Do not expect him to be much this season.  If he is, it will be a total surprise given that he is a Rookie, and that the Panthers will just not be a good team this season.

But with the Long Term in mind, at some point this season the Panthers and Fox are going to have to find out if Randy is their QB for the next few years and the Forseeable future, or if they will need to spend their top 5 pick on a QB in next years draft.

You can take it to the Bank, it is a Lock.  Randy Fasani will be the starter for the Panthers at some point this season, and when he gets the job, he might not give it up.  If he can't do the Job, the Panthers will draft a QB in next years draft.
