Non RB/WR Sleepers (Other Threads - RB & WR Only)

QB Jamie Martin, Rams

Can't make a sleeper list without including a few players. One of them is the Back up QB for the Rams, doesn't even matter who it is.

At this point it's Martin, and to be honest, he's not all that good. Doesn't matter, if Warner goes down, Martin will be given the keys to drive the best Offensive Machine in the History of the NFL. If you have Warner, you better have this guy. If you can find room for him, you just have to concider picking him up.

Not really sure he can be called a Sleeper anymore as he's getting some good PR lately.

TE Randy McMicheal, Dolphins. 6'3", 247, 4.82 Georgia

One of the few players in College to be awarded two red shirt years by the NCAA. Decent College numbers. Suspended at one point for Bar Room Brawling (I just seem to like that about a guy for some reason ). Won All-SEC Confernce Honors for the top TE, but to be honest, only had the one big game against Tennesse for 6 catches and just over 100 yards. There weren't really any talented SEC TE's last season, so don't put too much stock in his All Conference Selection.

Catches the Ball well, with nice natural hands. Adjusts well to a poorly thrown ball. Not a good Blocker, he just doesn't like to do it. He can be a good blocker, and has shown the skills, but he doesn't really revel in it, so most often does a poor job. Not a protype size or strength for a TE. Although that Highlight tonight on SportsCenter will lead you to believe otherwise, he lacks great running ability after the catch. Doesn't have the speed to break a big one, and infact, broke no long gains in College after catching the ball.

However, the Norv Turner Offense makes a TE a stud, and Everywhere you look and hear, Randy is the guy that they are going with, so by default, he will put up good numbers.

I read a quote from Turner just yesterday or the day before where he said McMicheal has more ability and talent in his assesment than Fredie Jones. Turner is off his Rocker with that comment, but if he wants to believe it, who am I to argue with a proven NFL Coach? He's wrong, but I'll just turn a blind eye, and accept what he is saying at this point.

Normally, I wouldn't touch the guy as at best he is an H-Back type who needs to be somewhere like Denver, but everything in the world says that Turner is high on the guy, and that he will be given every opertunity to suceed. Historicaly, Norv Turners Offense features a scoring TE. I say he puts up good numbers for a TE this season.

Shane Matthews QB, Washington Redskins

It doesn't really matter who the QB is for Spurrier, he will have his offense passing a LOT when he is behind.  And when the game is close.  And when he is blowing the other team out.

Ok, maybe it does matter who the QB is.  Shane Matthews is a decent NFL QB, and easily provides the best chance for the Redskins to win.

The more I look at the Redskins, the more I get excited about Matthews and the rest of the offense.  Which leads to...

Rod Gardner, WR Washington Redskins

Not a true sleeper, but one of the most undervalued players.  The Redskins have a plethora of second-rate WRs that would be good backups on any team, then they have Gardner.  His play this preseason was Owens-esque as he used his size to manhandle DBs at times.  I would not be surprised to see him end the year as a top 10 WR.

BTW - incredible work Drugrunner - you are putting out an amazing quantity of quality posts.

PLEASE, do not post "WR Sleepers" on this thread!  There are now TWO "Sleeper WR" threads, one, regretfully, locked!  Let's try to keep things organized.  I just want to continue to get off on the right foot here!  THANKS!
