My "He-Man", Super Hero award goes to.....

Trevor Insley.

When you are put on IR in the NFL, aren't you out for the season?

That's what I thought anyway.

It's a total unknown player, and to be honest, I didn't have a clue who he was, and started looking.

Trevor Insley WR for the Texans:

He wasn't on Ourlads Depth Charts, nor is he listed on the FBG depth Chart of Houston, and FBGs went 5 WRs deep.

I finally figure out who the guy is from KFFL, who has him listed as the 5th WR for the Texans, but out for the season on IR.

Here is the news from KFFL:

  Quote:
Texans | Injury Note - from KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
August 5, 2002 22:11:56 PT The Associated Press reports Houston Texans WR Trevor Insley broke his ankle during the second half of Monday night's pre-season game.

Texans | Season Over - from KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
August 6, 2002 17:46:52 PT The AP reports Houston Texans coach Dom Capers said WR Trevor Insley (broken ankle) is OUT for the 2002 season.

  Quote:
Texans | More On Insley - from KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
August 7, 2002 21:42:10 PT The AP reports Houston Texans WR Trevor Insley (broken ankle) underwent successful surgery Tuesday. He will miss the entire 2002 season.

Texans | WR To IR - from KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
August 15, 2002 15:14:41 PT HoustonTexans.com reports the Houston Texans have placed WR Trevor Insley (ankle) on IR. His 2002 season is over.

****************

So here is the question:

Insley caught 3 balls for 32 yards today.

(1)  Once you are listed and assigned to IR, aren't you out for the season?

(2)  Who is this kid to have broken his Ankle, and then come back a single month later and make 3 receptions in the NFL?

It's not like I think Trevor Insley has any value, and I'm not looking to pick him up or anything, it's just that this is totally flooring me?

Any insight?

Mr. Pharmacist, have you been breaking into the medicine cabinet a bit too often lately? There must have been a misprint in the box score you read.  Recently signed JaJuan Dawson caught 3 balls for 32 yards yesterday, but there was not hide nor hair of Trevor Insley in the box score at ESPN.  Where did you see that misprint?  The guy who inputted that must have been stone-cold !  It would be good to let people know where you saw that.

*Sigh*

Actually, it was from the ESPN scoreboard in the Colts/Texan's box score.  I showed it to a few different people, so I know it was correct.  I'll go check ESPN again here is a few sconds.  This is the book mark I have linked to what I saw.  Then inside the Colt/Texan box score.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/scoreboard

After I went over to NFL.com, and looked at thier Box Score, I discoved that they had FAR more complete information on atleast the Colts/Texan's game.

It was indeed JaJuan Dawson's stats being atributed to Trevor Insley.

I will be using them from now on, and not putting faith in ESPN.

OK, as of right now, ESPN has corrected it, and the reception line is attributed to JaJuan Dawson.  It was given to Trvor Insley eariler tonight though.

I'm using NFL.com's box scores from here on out.  I'm not going to trust ESPN's box scores again.
