QB Controversy

Yes, there is a controversy brewing in my lineup.  I've been riding Steve McNair for the first 4 weeks and he has done well for me.  He has been consistent and I'm 4-0 and only 2 points behind the leader in my league.
 
Now my backup wants some playing time.  Yes, it's Trent Green.  Both QBs are facing anemic defenses, although McNair is going against a Redskin unit with some serious talent.
 
I'm not terribly concerned this week as my (fantasy newbie) opponent is starting Mike Green (Eddie George's backup for those who didn't know - and I didn't).  This is also the same guy who put Santana Moss at the top of his WR draft list.  He still has Culpepper and D.Alexander in his lineup on their bye-weeks - I'm not sure if he knows it or not.
 
The point is that I can afford to take chances this week and am thinking about starting Green just for the hell of it.  Anyone think otherwise?

I'd go with Green! McNair is facing a tough D, and his best receiver is out (Mason).

I would likely start Green.  If Pennington gets the Jets offence on track it could trigger a shoot out.

OK, no more controversy.  I just traded Trent Green for Antowain Smith and Ed McCaffrey.  I picked up Brad Johnson to back up McNair.  Brad Johnson is not great, but he'll do fine as a back up.
 
 
 
 
Any thoughts on the trade?  I imagine that Green's explosion last week is more aberration than a harbinger of points to come.  Smith will get more carries as the season goes on and McCaffrey always does well as long as he's not injured.

I don't like that trade at all. Green will have a solid yr. N.E. seems to want to pass this year but i guess you needed an extra RB. Brad will be serviceable, but Green in that offense may come back to haunt you.

Charlie Weis has already stated that he intends to get Antowain Smith more involved in the game plan.  I think he will be a great #2 RB to Priest Holmes on my team.  I have Clinton Portis as a backup to the two of them now.
 
My top 2 receivers at the beginning of the year were Randy Moss and Johnnie Morton.  I've since dropped Morton and picked up Driver, but could use a 3rd quality receiver.  I also have Ismail and Pathon, but one of those will be traded for 3rd string RB.  
 
I realize that Brad Johnson is not a fantasy monster, but he doesn't make many mistakes.  He also seems to be developing a bit more of a rapport with his receivers lately.  
 
Trent Green is a roller coaster ride.  He throws 5 TDs against Miami while on my bench (who would have started him against what looked like a smart, tough defense???).  As soon as I start him, he'll revert back to throwing 3 INTs a game.
 
I think this trade will pay off for me in the long run.  I traded Green to the last place team in my league who just lost Kurt Warner and was looking for QB help.  I've already beaten him once, so maybe Green will help him upset some other teams in my league.  We'll see.    
 
But thanks for your opinion DOLFAN.  I do appreciate the insight.

I cannot tell a lie, Philly. I also think that Green's performance last week could be indicative of things to come... probably not that great, granted, but I think he will continue to progress along with that whole offense, including the Priest. As for the trade, though, I do not think it is as bad as DOLFAN.  Antowain Smith is a valuable commodity at the ever-important position of running back.  Mr. Ed is a nice complement to even up the deal.  Your picking up B. J. to back up McNair is a savvy move.  As the season progresses, I actually think B. J. will heat up along with the whole Buccaneer team, which is already off to a nice 3-1 start.  I do think, like DOLFAN, that Green could bite you in the ass down the line, but overall the trade is decent, especially if you were in need of a RB. 8)
