KC Chiefs Report, week 6, at San Diego Chargers First a few fun facts{blatently plagurized from ath} The Chiefs have scored 85 points in the fourth quarter. There are 11 NFL teams that have not scored that many points in all four quarters combined. Trent Green has hit 32 of 49 passing attempts for 439 yards and six touchdowns. He’s not thrown a fourth quarter interception this season. They’ve run 90 offensive plays in the final period and 67 of those plays have advanced the football. That means 74 percent of the time the Chiefs offense kept moving forward. Of those 90 plays, 42 ended up in the hands of Priest Holmes. The Chiefs running back carried the ball 33 times for 183 yards and five touchdowns. He caught nine passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. That totals to 42 touches for 254 yards and six touchdowns. That means 32 percent of his yardage and 60 percent of his touchdowns have come in the fourth quarter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Tacklin' this week's match-up from a slightly differnet angle. I'm a big believer in 3-week trends when it comes to ff and the nfl in general. Finally getting to the point where there is sufficient data to draw some conclusions from. So, just for clarification 1st three = weeks 1,2,3 2nd three = week 2,3,4, 3rd three = 3,4,5 QB Trent Green - 1st three 208.00 passing, 12.67 rush, 1.67 td per game average 2nd 225.33 23.00 3.00 3rd 257.67 18.33 3.33 with the exception of rushing yards, all are headed up SanDiego D vs Qb 1st three 171.33 passing, 19.33 rush, 0.67 td per game average 2nd 223.33 15.67 1.33 3rd 299.33 7.33 2.00 with the exception of rushing yards, all are headed south Summary: Gotta qb getting better against a d getting worse. No reason to suspect any thing but 250 - 300 yards and 2 or 3 td's. Solid start. RB Priest Holmes - 1st three 128.67 rushing, 23.00 recv, 2.33 td per game average 2nd 105.33 37.67 1.33 3rd 128.00 54.00 2.00 Fairly consistent numbers, nice to see the steady rise in rec yards. He's gonna have improve somewhere if he wants to get noticed , might as well be the recieving game. SanDiego D vs rb 1st three 52.00 rushing, 27.00 recv, 0.33 td per game average 2nd 71.33 29.67 0.33 3rd 88.00 47.00 0.67 While getting worse across all categories, what SD is giving up is noticably lower than what Priest averages. Gotta like the recieving yards trend though. They also haven't held a teams running back corp to under a hundred combined yards since week 2. Summary: If ya got the Padre you're going to start him regardless. I see right at 100 on the ground, another 75 recieving. Just a lone td. The bum! WR As a group. You'd think there would be SOMETHING, SOMEONE to get excited about. Nope! Nada! {not really a complaint, rb and te get so many recpt} 5 games played, 1 100 yard game for a kc reciever{kennison, wk 1}, no game with an individual reciever over 4 catches - and that has only happened 4 times, Kennison twice, Morton twice - not in the same game, in short, KC ain't gettin' done with thier wideouts. I'll admit, I'm a hardcore Chiefs fan and even I am shocked to see these next numbers. Number of receptions by ALL Chiefs WR per game 1 - 6 2 - 6 3 - 7 4 - 9 5 - 8 Pathetic! Want SOME good news if you're stuck strting a KC wr? SanDiego D vs wr 1st three 126.33 recieving, 2.67 rush, 0.33 td per game average 2nd 155.33 4.00 0.33 3rd 201.33 5.00 0.67 There ya have it, San Diego is getting worse in a 3rd straight major category, allowing averages that exceed KC's wr, so maybe one or two of 'em will step thier game this week. TE - Gonzalez - 1st three 46.00 recieving, 2.33 recpt, 0.67 td per game average 2nd 63.67 4.33 1.33 3rd 60.67 5.67 1.00 Pretty steady, but there was the 140 yard 2td game week 4 bookended by a couple of low yardage no td games. Still no sign of a drop off. Probably leave this guy on your roster. SanDiego D vs te 1st three 18.00 recieving, 2.33 recpt, 0.00 td per game average 2nd 37.67 4.33 0.33 3rd 50.67 5.67 0.33 Surprise, surprise, suprise. 4 in a row! Is there a catgory where San Diego is improving defensively? Apparently not. Kickers - Morten Anderson - every indicaton here locally is the same as what I've seen nationally. Morten will still handle the fg and xp. Just not kickoffs. I'll update this if anything changes. 1st three 2.00 fg att, 2.00 fg made, 3.33 xp att, 3.33 xp made per game average 2nd 2.00 2.00 4.00 4.00 3rd 2.00 2.00 4.33 4.33 Another category where Kc is heading up to holding steady. SanDiego D vs k 1st three 2.00 fg att, 2.00 fg made, 3.33 xp att, 3.33 xp made per game average 2nd 2.00 2.00 4.00 4.00 3rd 2.00 2.00 4.33 4.33
