QB Help Please...

My QBs are Steve McNair (who has been solid all year) and Brad Johnson (who is an average backup).

My dilemma:  McNair has a bye in Week 7.  I have confidence in Johnson as a backup, but not in Week 7 when he goes up against a tough Eagles defense.

There are still some QBs on the free agent list.  Do any of them merit a start in Week 7?

Quincy Carter, Marc Bulger, Joey Harrington, Jake Plummer, Drew Brees, David Carr, Doug Johnson, Peete/Weinke, Chris Redman, Patrick Ramsey
(in no particular order)

I figure there must be someone there who has a better matchup than Brad Johnson.  I'm leaning towards Drew Brees.  He has some weapons, the Raiders can be thrown on, and the Chargers will probably be playing catch-up for most of the game.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Also, I should mention that I'm at the bottom of the waiver wire list (since I'm undefeated  ) so I might not get to pick who I want right away.  I imagine some of the lower-ranked teams will be grasping at straws, so Bulger will probably be attractive to many of them.

So if you can rank the top two or three you think could help me, I would appreciate it!

I would rank them pretty much as you have them listed with the exception of Harrington ahead of Brees.

If you're going to pick someone up, I would go with Harrington, Brees or Bulger.  I would look at their matchups to determine who would be the best to pick up, but they all seem like talented QBs (but who can still make mistakes).   If you can wait a week, see how Ramsey responds.  He still ended up with good yardage numbers.

Unfortunately I can't wait a week.  That's the whole point here.  My starting QB (McNair) is on a bye next week and my backup (Brad Johnson) has a bad matchup against the Eagles (who I think will shut him down and force mistakes).

Here are the other matchups...
Brees @ Raiders
Bulger v. Seattle
Harrington v. Chicago
Carter @ Cardinals
Plummer v. Cowgirls
Carr @ Browns
D. Johnson v. Panthers
Redman v. Jax
Panthers QBs @ Falcons

I should also state that I think I am going to stay away from Bulger.  Lots of these QBs come in and have one great game and then stink it up.  Remember Todd Bouman last year.  Patrick Ramsey this year also seems to be an example of said point.

Right now I've narrowed my choices to Brees, Harrington, and Plummer.  Any more thoughts?

"Of the group you have mentioned, I would go with either one of the quarterbacks playing in the Cowboys-Cardinals game.  If I had to put the two in order, my first choice would be Plummer.  He is more proven.  What he has proven I am not sure, but whatever it is he has proven it more." ??? (I am a poet to boot... sweeeeeet!)

Good call by I would look at the Boston situation before selecting the Snake over the Quince.
