EAGLES Week 9 Analysis

This weekend the Eagles travel to Champaign Illinois to battle those tough Fighting Illini. Oh, wait, that's the NCAA team. They'll be playing the Champaign Bears in a rematch of the divisional playoff game last year. The Eagles are coming off two big emotional wins. This could be a letdown week for them. The Bears, however, are bad and even with an Eagle letdown will not be able to keep pace with Philadelphia. QB: Donovan McNabb has had two sub-par passing efforts against two tough defenses. Look for him to recover a bit this week. RB: Duce Staley has spearheaded a revitalized Eagles rushing attack that has combined for 458 yards in the past two games against tough rush defenses. Levens and Westbrook reemerged last week to get involved. My take is that this will continue so Staley won't get worn down. WR: Pinkston and Thrash have continued to get most of the looks and Freeman seems to be getting less involved in the passing offense lately. Even Freddie Mitchell got a couple looks last week. Look for Thrash to solidify his grasp on the #1 slot this week. TE: Things have been pretty slow for Chad Lewis this year and I wouldn't expect much difference this week as Chicago does have a very good cover LB in Colvin. K: Akers got his miss out of the way, so the pressure of maintaining a perfect record is gone. Def: Hugh Douglas will be facing a rookie. Chandler, while experienced, will still be attacked all day long and forced into mistakes. McNabb: 270 PY, 30 RuY, 2 TD, 1 INT {23} Staley: 80 RuY, 40 ReY, 1 TD {18} Levens: 30 RuY, 10 ReY {4} Westbrook: 40 RuY, 20 ReY, 1 TD {12} Thrash: 120 ReY, 1 TD {18} Pinkston: 30 ReY {3} Freeman: 20 ReY {2} Lewis: 30 ReY {3} Akers: 3-3 XPs, 1-1 FGs {6} Defense: 13 PA, 300 YA, 5 Sa, 2 INT, 1 FF, 1 TD *Points based on standard performance league scoring. Final Score:

If Akers had 4 more FGs, I would have nailed this one... |
