Great commentary here! I really like what Pak just wrote. Quite objective! I think he is telling it straight... very objective in mentioning that he played against the Bengals this week. Background... Pakman has William Green, took him high in this year's draft. That makes his quite unbiased commentary that much more valuable. I think they are going to give him opportunities to. He is who they want to succeed. I just do not think he will. His offseason "habits" indicated that to me. As for Jamel White, I like the guy. That said, he has "Warrick Dunn/Tiki Barber-itus." He really is considered and has been dubbed a third-down back as it stands right now. Will he go the way of Dunn, sporatically good, or Barber, consistently solid? I think that remains to be seen. But, I do think we saw in recent weeks that he, probably based on his size, struggles running the ball against good run defenses/defenses with a big front four/three, a (general) vice of Dunn's. Back to Green, the one thing I disagree with on this thread (sorry B. G. D.) is the comparison to Holmes. Holmes was not the highly touted player coming out that Green was. I honestly do not know where all this talk of Holmes's ever being a bust came from. He was actually more of a "come out of nowhere" player. He was originally slated to back up Errict Rhett in Baltimore in 1998. He got playing time after Rhett went down with an injury. He ran for (an unexpected) 1,000+ yards in like 10 games, granted a lot was in three or so of them, but his numbers were pretty darn good each game. Come 1999, he was still splitting time with Rhett. In 2000, they replaced him with Jamal Lewis. Maybe from a "fantasy-only" perspective, he was "a bust" after what fantasy footballers expected after that 10-game tear in 1998, but the truth is on the gridiron he just was not getting the opportunities. A player's circumstances must be factored in when playing fantasy football. You can't just dub a guy "a bust" because his stats are not "fantasy-friendly."

I think sometimes people forget that every NFL player is different- the speed at which they learn a system, the confidence they have in their own ability to play within a system. William Greens' progress reminds me of Michael Bennett from last year. You knew the guy had the tools to succeed, but he seemed to not be catching on as far as following his blockers went. Bennett showed some promise towards the end of the year, and now this year looks like a potential star in the making. This is where Green is headed, IMO. I realize QB's and WR's are "supposed" to be the players that take 2-3 years to catch on, and RB's usually are studs right away, or not at all. However, that is not ALWAYS the case, and I do have faith that Green will finish the year strong. BTW, I selected WG at 6.9 in a 12 man TD-only draft, cut him after week 5, picked him back up after week 8 (based on a gut feeling, not actual production at that point). I may finally start him this week, but would have to sit Chad Johnson or Randy Moss to do it. Tough call.
