KURT WARNER: The side of the palm of Warner's hand, beneath the pinkie, is bruised and swollen. The condition is not related to the broken pinkie that Warner suffered Sept. 29 against Dallas. "It got pretty sore," against Washington, Warner said. "I don't really know what it was. I don't remember taking a hit. I don't know if it was just getting back into taking snaps." "It was real painful for him during the game," coach Mike Martz said. "The next morning it looked like a catcher's mitt. It swelled up pretty good." On Wednesday, Warner was listed on the Rams' official injury report as probable. Warner did nearly as much throwing as normal during practice. He just didn't accept any snaps from center, something the Rams might avoid all week to avoid wear and tear on the hand. Warner actually threw the ball pretty well in practice Wednesday. "I felt good," Warner said. "Right now, it's just a pain-tolerance type of thing. I'm not real worried about it. Once I work that swelling out, it's going to be just fine. It takes a little bit of time. A lot of ice." MARC BULGER: Backup Jamie Martin took some snaps with the regular offense. That's right, Jamie Martin. Not Marc Bulger, who continues to be bothered by a sprained ligament between the index and middle finger of his throwing hand. Bulger is listed as questionable on the injury report. Martz said Wednesday that Bulger probably will be the team's designated third quarterback against Philadelphia, as was the case against Washington. "If Marc had to play, he probably could play," Martz said. "But he's awfully tender. He threw the ball around a little bit (Wednesday), and we stopped him immediately. Because he'll regress if you have him do that. Could he practice? He probably could. But it would set him back to where you may lose him for a few more weeks." Bulger said the finger hurts only when he tries to throw the football. "The position where you have your finger when you throw the ball is the exact (position) it was in when I got hurt," Bulger says. And the pain returns whenever he tries that motion. "Trying to throw a football is near impossible," Bulger said. "I just can't get anything on it. When I feel that pain, it reacts a certain way and you can't get anything on (the throw). However that works, grabbing the football is the worst thing I can possibly do for it." MARSHALL FAULK didn't practice and is questionable, and could miss his third consecutive game. Halfback Lamar Gordon didn't practice because he was a little groggy from last Sunday's game. Short on healthy running backs, the Rams signed Justin Watson. For offensive line help after losing guard Tom Nutten for the season, the Rams added veteran Jerry Wisne. Heath Irwin starts at left guard for Nutton. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/index# http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/Rams

Marshall Faulk put on pads Thursday for the first time since suffering ankle and foot injuries Nov. 10 against the Chargers. And although he didn't participate in the team portion of practice, Faulk ran and did individual work. Faulk has missed the last two games, and the injury that continues to bother him is the high right ankle sprain. As he left Rams Park late Thursday afternoon, Faulk's only comment when asked about his injury was, "It's OK." If Faulk can't play Sunday against the Eagles, the Rams probably will go with Lamar Gordon, who said he has feeling better after suffering a concussion Sunday against the Redskins. Kurt Warner practiced with the first team Thursday, and he looked crisp. For the second day in a row, he did everything but take snaps from center so as not to aggravate his bruised throwing hand, and he may continue to do that the rest of the week, Martz said. As for Warner's overall status, Martz said he's fine. Actually, Martz said Warner is better than fine. "Kurt's back," Martz said. "All the grip, the strength, the velocity on the ball is back to what it's always been. He's normal now. He's back. He looked good out there today." Backup quarterback Marc Bulger also got into the act a bit Thursday as he did some throwing early in practice during drills. Bulger hasn't done much of anything since spraining a ligament between the index and middle finger on his throwing hand, but he apparently couldn't resist. "He did some light throwing," Martz said. "I'd prefer than he not do that but he snuck in some light throwing. He's not supposed to do that. They want him to wait until Friday, completely, and not do anything. He did nothing over 10 yards." http://www.stltoday.com/sports
