Brooks..if healthy Taylor... Alexander...James is still banged up. Burress....Maddox return helps out big. Taylor...solid numbers with Blake at QB. Shockey...more consistent than McMichael.
Brooks - play it safe, at least for this week Taylor and Alexander - James is VERY banged up Gardner and Burress - your two best in my opinion Shockey - should come up big against Washington again
QB - Brooks (Although I hate QB's in Balt., Griese's knee must be tested) RB - Alexander & Taylor (Again, hate Taylor's match-up, but James is too risky) WR - Burress & Taylor (Toss up between Taylor & Gardner) TE - Shockey
So the only debate appears to be Taylor vs Gardner
Gardner is 18th in ytd points {standard perf} at wr going up against the 5th ranked NYGiants wr defense. In the last 4 weeks Gardner has been thrown to 44 times, caught 22 of them, for 299 yards and 3 td's. Spread out as 1 td per game except 2 weeks ago.
Taylor is 38th in ytd points at wr going up against the 26th ranked NOSaints wr defense. Taylor has been thrown to 31 times, caught 15 of them, for 161 yards and 3 td's. Spread out as 1 td per game except 2 weeks ago {tries to shakes echo from head}
The point differential between NYG and NOS defenses is 472 recieving yards and 4 td's to wr by the Giants vs 643 and 4 for the Saints. Both face outdoor games on the east coast.
I look at those numbers and say Gardner. More looks, more yards. No denying Taylors matchup is sweeter, just not enough difference in how the two defence's are playing recently to sit the better overall reciver.
Keep in mind that "The Ball Coach" is making a commitment to look at his younger players.
Despite losing the #1 status briefly during the year, he knows that Gardner is the stud of the team and his #1 WR.
Because of this, look for players like Derrius Thompson, Darnerian McCants, and Chris Doering (and maybe even Skaggs and Russell) to get more looks here on out.
