Help me find a new religion!
« on: Dec 17th, 2002, 5:05pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

I can no longer count on my Priest when I need him the most.  Please help me in my time of need.

This is what I have for the Super Bowl.  I'm the #1 seed and am playing the #2 seed.

(Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D - Basic Performance Scoring)

QB: [BJohnson v. PIT] or [McNair @ JAX]
RB: [Portis @ OAK] or [WGreen @ BAL] or [ASmith v. NYJ] or [Canidate @ SEA] or [Holmes v. SD after his miraculous recovery this week!]
WR: [RMoss v. MIA] or [Driver v. BUF] or [McCaffrey @ OAK]
TE: [Jolley v. DEN]
K: [Feely v. DET]
D: [Browns @ BAL] or [Ravens v. CLE]

I'm solid with Portis at #1 RB, Moss and Driver at WR, Jolley at TE, and Feely at K.  Everything else is up for discussion.

Thanks in advance.

There's so much pressure to win this week and I'm tentative to give advice, but if it were my team I'd go with:

QB - McNair
RB - Smith (Hope Holmes is back)
D - Baltimore

Good luck

A quick look at the past few week's numbers point to Willy Green being an excellent play. I'll break 'em with a, uh, clearer head for ya tomrrow, well, later today, actually. Starting to nod away

My Holmes replacement? Some bum, um, yeah there it is, Shuan Alexander. Sounds better than it is. It's a td only league. Sigh.

OK - my bid to get Mike Cloud failed as my opponent snagged him off the free agent list before I was able to.  He has some issues at RB as well.

After doing some research, I'm leaning towards McNair at QB and Ravens at Def.

If I had to put a lineup in right now, I'd go with Portis and Green at RB.  But I keep looking at that NY Jets rush defense.  125+ yds a game, and 17 TDs in 14 games... and Antowain Smith starts looking good again despite his lack of productivity this season.  (Will he continue to lose carries to KFaulk?)  Green has been on a really nice tear recently, but the Ravens allow only 3.7 yards per rush (best in the NFL) - they still give up yards (108/game) and TDs (14 in 16 games) because teams generally aren't abandoning the run against Baltimore.

Any other ASmith or WGreen owners out there that can give me some insights?

My opponent in the Super Bowl (anticipated starters in CAPS):

QB: MANNING, Couch
RB: GARNER, EDGE, Cloud, Mack
WR: HARRISON, PRICE, Thrash
TE: FRANKS, BMiller
K: MARE
D: FINS, Seahawks

Edge is a little banged up.  If the Giants can come up big on D and stop the triplets, I'll have a win.  (I can't believe I have to cheer for the Giants this weekend! )

Here's my pitch for Wild Willy. btw Antowain is a good play as well, the consistent 20 plus pushes Green over the top for me. I'm not a Green owner{this year  } but am looking real hard at him as a hopefully undervalued player in next years drafts. I am a 2-league Antowain owner and to paraphrase Keyshawn "just give antowain the damn ball"
. But they won't with ANY regularity.

There is no commitee in Cleveland though he does come out on some 3rd downs for Jamal White. I say this to point out in the last 5 games, Green has a low of 22 carries and a high 0f 28 over te last 5 games.

Thanks for the info buddy.  Just to make things interesting, I picked up Trung Canidate.  I've been reading that he will get a lot of work if Faulk is a no-go.  He looks enticing against that Seattle rush defense.

Well, I'm pretty set on WGreen as RB#2.

Randy Moss had a nice receiving day and the TD toss was a nice bonus.  My opponent had an average day from Mare and the Fins D, so I'm in good shape so far.  I just have to pray that the Giants lose to the Colts by a 3-0 score tomorrow.    (Sorry BW...)

quiet day for me as all I had in one league was Akers, I'll take 9. Unfortunately for me, but not you  , my opponent had Phi Def. Ouch! I believe that's 28/29 points if nfl.com's totals were correct. Got my work cut out for me. This was supposed to be easier than usual as his Priest substitute is Wells. Too early to say, but the pressure is on. My squad basically has to have some one go off big.

Well, my season is over.  I lost 92-89 in the Super Bowl.  Only Randy Moss and Jay Feely really came through for me.  It was a fun season though and $200 for 2nd place will be a nice X-mas present.

$$ League is a wrap, unless Martin Gramatica can get my opponet 31 points. 7 extra points AND 8 field gaols is a busy night! I'll see about half of what you'll get Philly. My $150 will have to cover two leagues worht of transactions, so actually, a little under a hundred is comin to pappa.

Bragging rights championship probably bit the dust when Bulger all those 1's

1 of 1 for 11. woo fockin' hoo!

That team plays two seperate superbowls and believe it or not, with the right combo of events, while unlikely, aren't that hard to imagine for me to pull out one of them. I'm down 4 with Burress left. The one I've already lost my opponent has Burress as well plus Keyshawn. No way to catch him. The one i'm still breathing in, down 4 with Burress, opponent has Pittsburg def and their kicker, Reed. Like I said, longshot, especially as I went in not expecting anything but middle of the road numbers out of Plax due to match-up. But from a "can a wr overcome a 4 point lead against a kicker/def?" perspective I AM ALIVE!
