| Unfortunately, as an Eagles fan in the mid 80s, I remember Jack Del Rio as a Cowboys LB all too well...

| Ah, I only go back to '96 as the earliest I can "visually" remember. I was a huge NBA fan before '96, then, I watched the Superbowl that year, and I was like, THIS is my NEW favorite sport.

Okay, favorite Del Rio time, eh? [cosell voice]The place: Arrowhead Stadium The Year: 1987[/cosell voice] Quote: Among the worst strike teams were the Chiefs, who went winless. The best plays were made outside Arrowhead Stadium. It was there that picketing linebacker Jack Del Rio beat up the hero of the franchise's only Super Bowl victory. "Otis Taylor was working for the team at the time and was trying to keep the peace," said former Chiefs assistant Don Lawrence of the former Chiefs wide receiver. "(Nose tackle) Bill Maas came riding up in his (Jeep) and started shouting and Maas had these fake shotguns. "Otis was giving him a hard time, but it was all in fun. But Del Rio, who is a really nice guy, didn't recognize Otis and thought he was (arguing) with Bill Maas and decked him." |
| Hmm, always wondered why we cut him when we did. NOT!

Even though he was an average-talent player while in the NFL, he played for more than 10 years because of his intensity, enthusiasm, and intelligence. He was a smart player (cliche - student of the game) who made himself into a better player than his talent indicated. He certainly proved himself as D-Coord for the Panthers. The Carolina defense was pathetic in 2001, yet he came on board and put them on the map this year. I think they finished in the top 5 overall. How many defensive stars did they have? Can you even name more than 2 or 3 starters from their defense? That's great coaching in my opinion. I think he'll bring a little bit of life to a team that played dead most of 2002. They have some talent and experience on offense, and Del Rio should be able to instill some excitement into the defense. |
| I think the Carolina D was STATISTICALLY better then the Philly D this year... I think, anyways.
