CoachH, like the Patriots and Parcells did back in '96 when they drafted a very risky Curtis Martin, who had suffered a bad knee injury his senior year, in the 4th round, I could see McGahee's going to a team like the Patriots or the Cowboys in the 3rd or 4th round. Those would seem to be good fits as both of those teams have a running back or two that could ease the transition, but are fairly clearly not really wanted anymore, read Emmitt and Antowain Smith and even Troy Hambrick, and the right people are in place on those teams to take such a risk, i.e. Kraft, Belichick, once a Parcells protege, Parcells and Jerry Jones, who is always willing to roll the dice. McGahee is a perfect fit on these two teams, even more ideal if he joins either of them in the 4th round of the '03 draft. Get this, if the Patriots do NOT get McGahee, look for them to somehow reacquire Robert Edwards from the Dolphins. Why? It just makes sense.

Well, the latest is that McGahee has been working his butt off, has made incredible strides in the seven weeks since his injury and has all but unequivocally declared that he will be able to play in '03. His doctor, though, is not willing to make any such declaration or corroborate any such speculation, at least not yet. Here is the source, John Clayton of ESPN: http://msn.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/clayton_john/1511467.html. Choc-a-bloc with good info!
