In lieu of having a thread for every single place a free-agent QB visits, I made the one linked to below. Until the guy signs, it just does not make sense to continuously create new threads, or at least set such a precedent. I do not want to set a standard (especially now in the early-going) of unecessary thread proliferation. So, it is good to always check the first two or three pages of "the Red Zone" first, e.g. if/when a quarterback signs in Chicago, there is already a thread set up for that; it is currently fairly far down on page 2. Actually, when first arriving (for the day), making it a point to visit pages 1 through 3 or so of "the Red Zone", and page 1 of both "between the 20's" and "the Sidelines" would be a good habit to get into. That's one big reason as to why we only have three "main" boards. That's not too much ground to cover, especially if we keep the creation of new threads to a minimum. Another way of dealing with this (Bouve) is to convert this thread to an "(Early) Offseason Report" thread for the Dolphins like many others of us have done for other teams or make it a "Brian Griese" thread, another pattern dudes have used. Again, I just want to minimize the number of threads created (as best as possible) a) so things don't go flying off the first pages of the boards, and b) because more substantive, thorough and, thus, productive discussion can take place when all material related to a specific issue is kept on one thread. In any event, regarding the specific issue at hand, please reference the following thread: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=55;a ction=display;num=1042663774. One last thing... good job, Bouve, for apparently utilizing "the Gridiron Newsstand" in your post. This is to everyone... Even if you find your info somewhere else, it would be cool if you could cross-check it over at "the Gridiron Newsstand" as, for obvious reasons, it is much better if we can use/cite our own resource when reporting. Thank you... for your anticipated cooperation!

http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36%257E86%257E1237335%257E,00.h tml Contrary to the report above that the NFL was going to allow Griese to make preliminary visits to teams before June 1st and without a trade finalized, for the purposes of exploring the possibilities of a trade, the word now out of "the Gridiron Newsstand" is that he will not be allowed to do so. Here is the quote from the Denver Post: "Broncos quarterback Brian Griese spoke with the Miami Dolphins this week, but the NFL said Wednesday he will be unable to visit any teams until the Broncos trade or release him. This will prevent Griese from visiting Chicago, a team that wanted to bring him in for a physical on his left shoulder, which underwent surgery about six weeks ago" Of course, Chicago is now a moot issue. The link to the whole article is here, but everything relevant to this issue is quoted above: http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36%257E86%257E1239739%257E,00.h tml.

| This whole "he can, he can't" stuff baffles me. It's not as if Griese is the first player told to feel free to seek a trade cause we intend to cut you June 1st. Why isn't there a clean cut precedent to follow? ??? ???

| As the old saying goes, you have to earn respect. I was a big fan of Griese's, but most of his problems were self inflicted. It's not easy trying to replace the greatest QB of all time and there was a lot of pressure placed on his shoulders. How did he respond? Well, first he got arrested for DUI while speeding in his car. OK, we all make mistakes... smart people learn from them. He followed that up by "slipping" on a friends driveway late one night at a party (probably en route to driving under the influence again) knocking himself unconscious and splitting his eye open. And then he "tripped" over his and injured his leg. Sure, accidents happen, but when you have a past history of drinking problems it's hard not to assume the worst. Shanahan went out on a limb and gave Griese a big contract and Brian repaid him by continually embarrassing himself (and the organization) with his poor decision making. There's no doubt in my mind that these off the field problems affected his play on the field and his ability to command the respect of his teammates. I hope Brian gets his act together and I wish him the best, but he deserved what he got.
