Well fellas I've not been around lately, but it looks like you guys are keeping up on the big news regarding the Rams. Some changes in the coaching staff may make a huge difference in how the Rams go about things. Steve Fairchild has been hired as Offensive Coordiantor and Martz really likes him, so much so that he is actually delgating some major responsibilities to him already. The O line is already better than last year. Dave Wolabaugh will play center. Recently re-signed Andy McCollum will probably slide over to guard with Turley and Pace at tackles, Faulk will have some holes and Warner can count on better protection this year. John St. Clair was a sieve last year and will battle to even remain on the roster at camp. Wide receivers are still in question after Bruce and Holt. The loss of Proehl this year and Hakim last year leaves a couple of jobs open. The Rams are looking for a posesion receiver to replace Ricky. Darrin Chevarrini has been in for a visit recently. Terrence Wilkins may be cut if he doesn't show much improvement in his grasp of the offense. Troy Edwards could have a big year if he can remain healthy. Ernie Conwell is shopping around. He has turned down the Rams' latest offer, so they went out and signed Cam Cleeland. They would really like to keep Conwell, especially since James Hodgins is gone. the Rams are thinking about using Conwell more in the backfield as a lead blocker for Faulk. The needs on defense are many. They need a middle linebacker, a speed rush outside linebacker, two more cornerbacks and a safety. It looks like Kim Herring could be a late cut to free some salry cap money if the Rams find a free agent DB. Sean Landetta was signed as the new punter. The needs on draft day are many, but a shut-down cornerback is the #1 need. they would love to draft Marcus Trufant, but they may need to trade up to get him. They could swing something because they have extra compensatory picks this year. The breakdown is as follows: One pick per round in the first, second, third, and sixth rounds. Two picks in the fourth and seventh rounds. Three selections in the fifth round. More later as we near the draft or they sign some players. Quote:COMING AND GOING Arrivals Cameron Cleeland, TE (UFA - NE) Sean Landeta, P (UFA - STL) Mike Loverne, OL (WAS) Jeremy Staat, DE Kyle Turley, OT (STL) Dave Wohlabaugh, C (CLE) Departures Mitch Berger, P (UFA - NO) Dre' Bly, CB (DET) Frank Garcia, OL (UFA, ARI) Chris Hetherington, FB (UFA - OAK) James Hodgins, FB (UFA - ARI) Heath Irwin, OG (UFA - STL) Jamie Martin, QB Dexter McCleon, CB (UFA - KC) Ricky Proehl, WR (UFA - CAR) Tom Nutten, G (UFA - NYJ) Jeff Zgonina, DT (MIA) STAYING PUT Player, Pos. There are a lot of "Pro Bowl" or "Good" safeties out there, who in my opinion are overrated, like Tebucky Jones, Dexter Jackson, to name a few... so there's no reason why Sehorn can't succeed at Safety. |
