Thank God for Jimmy Kennedy!

I am so thankful that the Rams finally did something right and drafted the big man from Penn State Jimmy Kennedy. After an offseason of getting screwed at every turn, they finally did something good & made me as happy as a  . Kennedy will make an immediate impact against the run & now all we need is some CB's to at least try to stop the pass.

I am happy as a   in you know what about the   Kyle Turley, but we lost so much this offseason. The loss of Ernie Conwell, Dre Bly, Dexter McLeon, and Ricky Proehl will really hurt. I think my team is back on its way to the old days of 5-11 seasons.

Too bad Trufant didn't fall one more slot! They would have taken him over Kennedy!

They have the best offensive line they have had in 3 years, and their schedule looks to be a cupcake for the last 8 games. Warner is healthy, Faulk is healthy, all they need to do is find a fullback and I think they can easily go 11-5 this year.

They had Kennedy as their #5 rated player in the draft behind Newman, Andre Johnson, Charles Rogers and Jordan Gross.

This is one of the few post draft statements I actually believe.  I think a lot of teams had Kennedy ahead of Robertson.  Different styles of play.  I see the Rams style more to the liking of Kennedy than Robertson.

Kennedy is a more athletic DT and a better pass-rusher than Robertson.  Coming into the draft, Kennedy was rated higher than Robertson, but Robertson did better than Kennedy at post-season workouts.

Plus Robertson has a better attitude than Kennedy.  Kennedy is a little undisciplined, but a good coach (Martz?) and good teammates will help with that.

I agree that the offense should be fine, although I really think that the loss of Conwell will hurt more than most think, but how in the world will that "D" stop anyone? Teams will light up the sky against that terrible secondary.

As a Faulk owner, I liked it better when Warner wasn't healthy and Bulger was in there.

I hear you, man, but last year's secondary was pretty poor also. When Anneas Williams got hurt, the Rams were playing McCleon, Bly, Herring, Archuletta and Whitley.  This year, Whitley is out for quite some time, but Willaims is back, so is Archuletta and McCleon was relegated to nickel back because his play was poor. The guy I think they'll miss is Bly. He could give up a big play or make a big play. I still think the Rams may find some veteran DBs when training camp cuts get made or salary cap cuts get made.

All in all, I think the Rams secondary is very suspect, but it was last year too.

That was a good move by the rams.  However until Martz gets his act together they will not be as good as they could be.  The superbowl and last year showed that he is more than willing to go away from what works (Faulk) and would rather attempt to prove that he is the reason for the rams success offensively.  This is far from the truth however as we can see from Vermils work with K.C. he just happened to inherit a great team and it took him a while to take the greatness away from it.

OK, off the subject, but I like paulinst's picture the best so far!  Pleasant surprise.

I've seen lots of people with this opinion, but Im not sure it's completely accurate. it does have some truth to it, Martz has lost his mind at times as a Head Coach, but he has done some things to improve the team as well. His hiring of Lovie Smith and retoling of the defense was a great move. I never hear anyone give Martz credit for this.

He is a lightning rod for criticism, people either dislike him or put up with his "arrogance", but his team and coaches and the St. Louis media all say he's a great guy.

I don't konw.

You're right he doesn't get enough credit for the improved D of the Rams. As far as Martz as a person I have no clue.  Martz as a head coach from what I've seen from the outside looking in (I could be way off) seems to be confusing.  He has one of if not still the best RBs in the game right now.  there are few teams out there that can really stop marshall.  His wideouts are talented but I feel they would be best used as a second option after forcing teams to put 8 men in the box in attempt to stop Faulk.  In One v. One Bruce or Holt can dominate.  They still are capable of having the best O in the league but I think it must be done through Faulk, and it seems Martz has gone away from that.

Personally, Martz has yet to prove he can coach at the NFL level. He may have made some good personnel moves, but his play calling leaves a lot to be desired!

Martz is PURE genious.

Get off his back. Don't get on him just because he blew last season entirely by benching a HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT, Mark Bulger, for a STRUGGLING Kurt Warner. Can't blame him for not realizing that Marshall Faulk is THE best player in all of football at the moment.

I've never liked Martz... when I see him on the sidelines with that little grin on his face I want to kick the shit out of my TV! Over the past few years I have grown to dislike him as a coach for many reasons, but lately I have learned to respect him a bit more off the field. Click on this link and you'll see what I'm talking about.
