stuck?

I am in a yardage league with the option of keeping two res. Our league has 12 teams so two quality backs is a must to compete. Right know I have Portis & A. green and I was offered a trade, Vick for Portis. I love Vick but I'm scared because I'm not sure about how he was in the offseason(Not showing up for Price's conf., missing meetings with A. Blank, & missing other functions that he was supposed to represent the team). So to get to my point I think Vick has a huge upside but will this effect the team unity?

Vick is THE entire team. Price is just a little bonus for Vick to be able to get even better stats.

I really like Portis... but this one's up to you. Either way, I'd call this trade pretty even.

Hey sporto, there are way too many variables here to give you an informed opinion. We need more information. How does the scoring work in your league? Who else is on your team? The more information you can give, the better!

Scoring in that league is a follows.
1pt-10 yds rushing
1pt-20 yds passing
1pt-15 yds receiving
2pt-TD
-1-INT

Well...this is a tough one.  On the surface, it appears that Vick would be a higher scorer in the league.  However, as you said running backs are hard to come by.

I like to look at it a little differently.  Is Vick better than the next best available quarterback MORE THAN Portis is better than the next available running back.  I would say Portis is mo' better than the next available running back cause RB are hard to come by.

So in my opinion......stick with Portis.

Well this is the problem:
I already made a offseason trade (traded Culpepper for A.Green). In our league if you make a offseason trade you have to res. the player or players traded for. So if I make this trade I would have to res. Green & Vick if I don't make the trade I would res. Green & Portis

And Something else I have been thinking about is the Denver RB Soph. jinxs. Last 3 rookie RB got hurt next year!

BM... Big Mistake in my opinion!

The best team out of all these variable players that could have been constructed would have been Culpepper and Portis, which, ironically, is where you started.  Given the fact that I don't like Green to be a solid (week-in-week-out) #1 running back this upcoming season, the additional rushing stats Vick would give you will be a much-needed bonus.  On the other hand, Portis is probably going to blow up this year and he would become your #1 RB, making Green your #2, a more suitable and safer expectation.  I, ultimately, think that, at this point, this is six of one, half a dozen of the other, and an after-the-fact repair job.  I wish you would have first asked us about the Culpepper-Green deal.  That, I would have had some very "specific" advise about!  Anyway, good luck , my SBFFL friend!

As for the Culpepper for Green trade, I loved it considering I am the one who got Daunte and gave up that that   Green. As for the Vick-Portis deal, I will hold my opinion until after the deal is done.

Steg,

I already saw how you feel about the Green's. In your post you said you don't see Ahman being a "soild week-in-week-out" . Well let me tell you a little something about Mr. Culpepper. He was on my team for the last 2 seasons ,one week a 9, next an 11, then a 25 then a 8. You want to talk about week-in-week-out I've been on that rollercoaster buddy and I'm to sick to stay on it!!

Now Mr. Green. I saw how you rated him as the biggest bust for this year and thats fine. What I see is a good back and a good comeback year! Green Bay tryed to address thier def. in the offseason& draft, and I'll be wating for a lot of "garbage yardage" in the fourth quarter . I can hear it now

I agree with Sporto, I would not wan't Culepeper as one of my reserves either. He is like Dillon and Alexander, monster game one week, then disapear for two.  Inconsitincy kills fantasy teams! I also think the Vikings coaching staff is one of the worst in the league. Plus when your entire offense is centered around a head case like Moss, that is not a good thing. Say what you wan't about Green, but he was the best available player that he could get for him.

To trade for Vick is tempting , but IMO his potential for injury would keep me from making this deal. I know every player has the potential to get injured, but his style of play puts him in harms way more so then any other QB. Of course, it's that same style of play that makes him such a fantasy stud... I think you'll be happy with either one of them on your team, but if I had to go with one, I'd take Portis. Last year was the tip of the iceburg... get ready for some HUGE numbers!

Someone from SBFFL said it was a good trade and I responded.  Anyone know what happened?

Dirk, you also made a post on the SBFFL board.  Could that be where you saw what you saw and the confusion lies?
