I'd call it "even", though I'd give the SLIGHT edge to Deuce and Ja Lewis only because of Fred Taylor and his "injury proness." Not only that, both have alot of upside where Portis is the only one with an upside in that combo. Fred Taylor could be as good as Faulk, but the injuries hurt his ability alot.

Big edge to Jamal Lewis and Deuce McAllister.

Clinton Portis is a stud, but Fred Taylor is a huge question mark.  He can get the job done when he's healthy, but he has a hard time staying healthy.  Plus Brunell is on the downside of his career and is a lame duck this season.

I think Duce & J. Lewis. Just like everybody said "Taylor just can't stay healthy" and Portis is going to find out how much of a O'l Woodtooth can be!

I think the next thread should be: Can Quentin Griffin be the next 1000 yrd. Bronco back?

I actually think they are about even! People say the Fraud is fagile which he is, but I don't think Lewis has played two consecutive, injury free years in a long time either!! Both combos, if healthy, are very good!

I would have to go with Portis & Taylor. I just think that Portis is better than Deuce and that Fred & Jamal are even. It is splitting hairs, but sometimes that makes the difference.

I love taylor but untill he can go a few season w/out being injured I have to go away from him in most cases and this would be one of them.  all four are good backs and can win in FFB but if I had the choice it would be J and D only becuz taylor can't stay healthy

Everyone keeps talking about Taylor's injuries as the reason for taking Duece and Jamal, but the last time I checked, Lewis missed the entire 2001 season due to injury and was plagued with elbow problems the first half of his rookie year in 2000... 3 seasons, 1 and a half of which he was injured... is that not considered injury prone? Both of them are a risk and both have the potential to put up big numbers, to me they're equal. (I would take Taylor if I had to choose. Baltimore is not known for their offense and I think Taylor has the potential to score more TD's.) So for me it comes down to Portis or Duece... I take Portis. He posted better number in his rookie season and he did so while only starting 12 games. He could have lead the league in rushing had he started all 16. If I get the chance, I'll take him as my #1 RB this season.

My vote is for Portis and Taylor

I think the question is if Fred Taylor is going to get red-zone carries now that Mack is gone.  Does anyone know if Marc Edwards will assume the role of Mack at the goal-line or if he is strictly a blocker?

Jamal is the ONLY ballcarrier in Baltimore and their passing game is in question.  I'd expect quite a bit more from Lewis than Taylor.

Actually, I heard not Edwards would try and replace Marc Edwards, but instead, BACKUP TAILBACK LABRANDON TOEFIELD (sleeper? with goal-line carries, a big frame, and Taylor's potential for injury... NEVER KNOW) would assume Mack's former role. Also, in Baltimore, there IS rookie Musa Smith, who I like A LOT; but you're right... he probably won't get any play time THIS YEAR. I'd go Ja Lewis (simply for the lack of their pass game this year) and McAllister (look at the potential in that offense... they COULD be the best this year if they throw it all together) over Portis (although I like him a lot) and Mr. Injury himself Fred Taylor.

I vote for Lewis and Duece...I expect big things from Jamal, and Duece will be solid.

Few thoughts...

The fact that Baltimore has no passing game is good for Lewis in the sense that he should get more touches, but it will also work against him. Without a passing game, opposing D's will be bent on stopping Jamal and force someone else beat them. It will also inspire them to hit him just a little bit harder, knowing that if they can get him out of the game they greatly improve their chances. The more balanced attacks of Denver and Jax give Portis and Taylor more room to breathe and increase their chances of breaking a big one. I'm a big fan of Duece and I think he'll have an awesome year, but I still like Portis if I had to chose between the two. I didn't even think about the "Red-Zone" theory , but Taylor and Lewis basically had identical stats last year, yet Taylor still managed to score a couple more TD's despite not getting the Red-Zone carries.

Is it time to start the "Gridiron League" yet?
