I have a question for you Fantasy Football Nuts!!!!

I want your evaluation of these two players and your choice of who you would pick out of the two?

Taylor Jacobs - 6' 0 205lbs 4.45(40) Redskins
High Character Guy
Great Hands
Good Speed
Great Route Runner

Potential For Playing Time: Gardner and Coles ahead of him

Tyrone Calico - 6'4" 223lbs 4.34(40) Titans
Big Tall and Fast
Raw Talent
Lacks Route Running Skills
Good but Not Great Hands
Lots of Potential!!!

Potential For Playing Time: McCareins and Bennet ahead of him

Well Let your heads get cranking and tell me what you think! Which guy has the biggest up side and the greatest FANTASY potential?

  Thanks Tony

Tony, I would go with Calico, personally, but that is just one guy's take.  I can't lie to you and tell you there is anything all too scientific about my choice.  I just think he is in a more "fantasy-auspicious" sitch; that's all.  You are probably best off waiting until ALL the guys chime in and go democratic with your decision or just take it all in and make your own "more informed" decision.  Anyway, I hope I helped a little bit.

I just typed up this HUGE thing but then IE had an error when I hit Post, so this one is going to be a lot shorter.

Calico
+ potential to be next Terrell Owens
+ will grab Slot this year to start, eventually #2 with injuries to Bennett or Mason. McCareins has no shot.
- McNair is aging
- Lack of Running Game

Jacobs
+ A lot of potential
- Playing behind 2 good receivers, 1 better than him and 1 on same level; may not get chance
- His QB is Patrick Ramsey. This COULD also be a positive. IF RAMSEY GETS ON THE RIGHT TRACK, HE IS YOUNG AND WILL PROVIDE A GREAT CAREER FOR JACOBS. But, until then, he's still Patrick Ramsey.

I'd go Calico for now simply because he has worse WR in front of him and he has McNair throwing to him instead of Ramsey. If you see Ramsey start doing well early on, swap players and include a late draft pick next year. You'll equip yourself with a guy that can be a STUD if the right guys on the Skins get injured.

I assume your looking at both of these guys for a keeper league??

If so, take a flier on Calico.  He's got more upside than Jacobs.  Jacobs has two excellent receivers ahead of him, and still has to beat out Darnerian McCants and Patrick Johnson.

If this is a redraft league, don't waste your time with either one of them.

I agree with the concensus here! Calico now, but Jacobs could be better in the long haul. I don't see Jacobs getting that much PT this year! Plus, if he does one  wrong thing, Spurrier will bench him for weeks!

I agree with philly if this isn't a keeper league I'm lost if it is I would say Jacobs due to the nature of the offenses there.  "Air" doesn't spread the ball as much as a Spurrier O does, and if Jacobs plays as he is capable he could see some action.

I am so sorry, Jon! BUT, great write-up, at any rate!

I just want to say/reiterate this much TO EVERYBODY!  We just have to grin and bear this for another month or so until June 14th-ish as indicated on the "Slight Technical Difficulties on 'the Gridiron'" thread on "the Sidelines".  HOWEVER, it would be good practice between now and then, actually it is always good practice when writing a long post, to either cut and paste it to your "Notepad" or "Word" program before pressing "Post" OR write it in your "Notepad" or "Word" program and then cut and paste it into the "Message" window here and then press "Post".  I know I first learned to do that when writing e-mails via Yahoo over in Korea with a poor connection.  Of course, I probably wrote like 50 pages of e-mails before I wised up!

Anyway, just a heads-up, fellas!  Back to the topic at hand...

The league Tony is refering to is the QFL, and it is a keeper league. We keep 10 players, five on offense and five on defense, plus we get a two year roster exemption on one rookie every year.

This the second year in arow that Tony drew the last pick in the rookie draft too!

BTW Tony, I'd take Calico as well...although Jacobs is the better player in the long run.

I still have to disagree. I know I posted before, but Jacobs better? I don't think so... he had Grossman throwing to him. They come into the season at about the same level, but Calico has LOADS more of potential. Keeping 5 offensive players, I'd keep him as one of them, for sure... depending on your roster, though. Once again, TYRONE CALICO HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE THE NEXT TERRELL OWENS, IF NOT BETTER. Plus, Calico doesn't have the BIG head Owens does AND, he doesn't have a player like Coles or Gardner in front of him. I refuse to be impressed with Mason, but he's the starter, so... Yeah, the ONLY thing that makes me hesitate on Calico is the fact McNair is aging and Eddie George is done. But, when the Titans find a QB for their future... WOW. A SUPERB YOUNG DEFENSE, CHRIS BROWN pounding the ball on the ground, and Calico, Bennett, and McCareins at wide-out? Wow...

I'm glad I put this posting up...........It's great to see all this motivated football talk. I LOVE IT. I appreciate all of your feedback as well. This might be the start of something bigger.........Taking two players at the same position(whether they are rookies or not) and putting them up against each other for debate on talent, potential, and Fantasy Value. It could be a very valuable tool for ranking palyers and setting up your individual draft orders and cheat sheets! HMMMMMMMMM! You might be hearing from me soon.

I'd say Jacobs only because if Jacobs does "break-out" before Calico does... I could have the bragging rights and say that I was the ONLY one who was right.

For all of you that weighed in with an opinion, I thank you...........I ended up drafting Tyrone Calico and here is a promising update!.....

 The News
Rookie wide receiver Tyrone Calico, the Titans' second-round pick, could make an impact earlier than expected. Veterans Samari Rolle and Steve McNair noticed Calico during Tennessee's recent minicamp and have taken him under their respective wings. Rolle, a Pro Bowl cornerback, says he plans to match up with the rookie as much as possible during practices. "The more I go against him, he'll make me better and hopefully I can do the same for him," Rolle told the Tennesseean. McNair was smitten with Calico's size, speed, and strength and plans to spend additional time during the offseason working with him. For his part, Calico will doing extra work with Tennessee strength and conditioning coach Steve Watterson as well as the Titans' wide receiver coaches between now and the next minicamp.
 Our View
The Titans don't have a clear-cut second wide receiver. Calico has all the physical tools to be an impact wideout, and if McNair takes a shine to him and Ty works himself into the lineup sooner rather than later, he could make a fantasy splash as early as his rookie season.

Ya' know with his size he should complement (no, not compliment as I see on so many message boards ) Derrick Mason well.  Good pick-up, and one I will remember come draft time in my league!

I still say Jacobs is going to be the better WR.
