Who is up for some individual player discussion. Cirrinone got me thinking in another thread. How about each day I choose a name of an NFL player. Not your super studs, like Ricky Williams, Payton Manning, Terrell Owens, but some of the middle tier guys, just to get other people's opinions. How about we start with...Jake Delhomme, QB, Carolina Panthers...

Only bad thing I've heard about him is his cajun accent. Lmao, no offense to any Cajuns 'round yonder Back to the point in case, I've heard Delhomme can produce if he was ever given the shot. Problem is, he's never been given a real shot. I've heard he was excellent in Saints' practices and such. But really, I don't think he'll out-of-no-where put up super-stud #'s because Carolina will be playing ball-control with their great defense and Stephen Davis, along with his mediocre receiving crew. I think in a few years he'll be good though. No doubt. For some reason, he reminds me of Trent Green. And yes, I know Green had proven himself before going to the Chiefs. Yeah yeah, for some reason I just see the comparison. *BEATS ME!* But in summary, Delhomme will put up decent numbers this year. I'm predicting #23 QB stats overall, but in 3 years, I think top 15 is reasonable.

BW, on this great ! How 'bout you sleep on it for two nights, though, since this one got started so late in the day here today (already yesterday now here for me)? I know I, and I am sure others, will want to comment on Delhomme quite thoroughly on the morrow. I mean that does not preclude you from starting another "player for discussion and debate" thread tomorrow; I am just trying to give you a break, so you won't burn out and, thus, last longer doing this! Anyway, I got to hit the sack now! Have a good night all! Sleep well! Mu-ah-ha-ha!

| According to the Carolina website, Peete (an unrestricted free agent) was resigned on March 10. Haven't heard anything on Weinke, but according to the Panthers team page on CBSSportsline, Peete is the #1 QB, followed by Weinke at #2. Not sure where that leaves Delhomme, but there's a lot of time left and things can change in a heartbeat... Even if he did start, I'm not sure I would take a chance on him...yet. (This is where preseason comes in handy. )

This is actually a really tough one to read, frankly speaking. I like Jake Delhomme a lot! Why? I am not absolutely sure! Just seems like he could be one of those guys who comes out of nowhere and tears it up. But, when will he be given such an opportunity? I think he will enter the preseason as the #2, perhaps even the #3 for like the first week, and then emerge as the #1 going into the season. I mean I still have not totally given up on Chris Weinke yet; I thought I saw flashes when he played, but I think the Panthers may have. And, based on age and history, we all, me included, just want to naysay Rodney Peete in knee-jerk fashion, but his performance last year speaks for itself. He was great when he played! To me that's more the reason they want to go with Delhomme and have Peete backing him up. If they let Peete start out the season, they may not be able to get him off the field, which does not help their future at the position, and they would have somewhat of an unknown in Delhomme backing him up. There also may be the concern on the part of the Panthers that league defenses may have caught up with Peete's tendencies and he may not be as effective as a starter this year and, of course, there is the issue of fragility. Whereas, if they start Delhomme, they are showing their support for him and will immediately see what he brings to the table while they know they have a capable guy in the wings. That's my take!

| I do know this...I am not going to waste a draft pick on any Carolina QB. Too many questions, too many answers. It is crazy that they have the three equally bad quarterbacks. My prediction, Delholmme starts 8 games and gets about 1700 yards with 6 tds. This is REALLY one of those players that you gotta see how training camp plays out in order to see where he stands. Even then, wouldn't touch him.

Agreeeeeeeed, KJ! BW, awesome ! This, I can see , will definitely become another trademark of "the Gridiron" and BarnabyWilde's! Too bad the admin here doesn't allow people to pick up the ball and run with it and "input" their own original ideas on this forum, infusing and influencing it with their own creative energy. What an ogre this guy is! But, at least he evidently gets a lot of blow jobs! <-(this smiley couldn't have been a contribution by a member, could it have?)
