GARNER TO DALLAS?!

Wow Steg, you're going to hate me for this one, because I don't have any official source... but I just read on a forum over at footballguys.com that DALLAS IS TRYING TO GET CHARLIE GARNER?!?!

As of right now, it's all small forum-talk and opinions; HOWEVER, I won't be surprised if he does. It's just anticipation, don't take my word for it.

BUT IF HE DOES:
1) Garner's value goes DOWN playing for an offense that throws a lot less out of the backfield
2) Hambrick's value goes WAY DOWN as he won't even start (crap I just drafted him too... I'm going to trade him before this becomes public )
3) Justin Fargas' value goes WAY UP and I bet he STARTS THIS YEAR...

We'll see. Most likely not true. Is there a possibility? Why not...

I'll chime in on this. I think this is just talk. Maybe a rumor started to increase a knee jerk reaction from TB to make a move for Garner. I don't see this at all. They had adn OLD RB and let him go. Garner also does not fit Parcell's rb "type" If anything they would go for C Martin. I seriously think they will give Hambrick and Wiley another year of growing pains to see what they have. Then next year take a RB in round 1. They will get a shot at the top 2 with where they place standings wise. You have Clariet, JOnes and a few other soldi RBs coming out next year. Plus 15-20 teams have solid rbs, or got some solid sleepers from this year's draft.
I think these are rumors and a trade ploy.

No, ya' don't, Jon!  But, that's because there aren't any official sources corroborating this "story."  I checked EACH and EVERY source on "the Gridiron Newsstand" and even went to KFFL and there wasn't a thing, not even on Dallas Cowboys-specific message boards.  My guess is that is just Footballguys being Footballguys guys.  Don't get me wrong...  They have some smart guys there.  It is just that they are so full of their own football knowledge that they start believing their own headlines and end up creating, or should I say churning out, rumors based on half-truths or (ill-)logic that is not based in fact or even facts.  It is not that they do this all the time, just "all too often," so to speak, for my tastes, and in these instances, they end up, or come off as, presenting their opinions and speculation as if it all were reality.  To be honest, I think I read this rumor on some other FF message board about two months ago.  I mean there is some logic to the idea... from a fantasy football perspective, but not really from a real football perspective.

Bill Parcells wants young players, who can be molded and have a future with him, and veterans who have played for him or a protege of his like Bill Belichick so he can indoctrinate the team.  Charlie Garner neither fits Parcell's system of building a team, O.J. Anderson notwithstanding, nor Parcell's offensive system, epitomized by O.J. Anderson.  Garner did not come up through the Parcell's line; he is actually part of the "West Coast" family.

And, there is no way the Raiders go into the '03 season with Justin Fargas, although I do like him and think he has a bright future, as their #1 starting tailback.  NOOOOO WAAAAAY!  And, they are not going to revert back to Tyrone Wheatley.

So, Jon, don't go hastily trading Hambrick away yet!  I have him and would not even think of moving him based on this rumor.  The same goes for Garner owners.  And, don't go bumpin' Fargas up those rankings too fast yet!

Well, great post, anyway, Jon! It should "provoke" some interesting discussion!

Haha, well...

I don't really know about Hambrick. He is my RB2 in a 16-team league, and with him being a lard-ass, Wiley pushing him for his job, etc... I don't really know. Plus I think the Boys bring in SOMEONE this offseason that reduces his value even more. GRR, I should have went with Zereoue or Trung.
