There are four teams mainly interested in Akili. The most interesting in my opinion would have to be Green Bay. He would have a great mentor in Favre and a great coach.

In Cincy, I can go as far as blaming his poor record and play to team, management, and coaching staff.

I watched Akili when he was in college and I was amazed at what he can do. I really thought he was going to be a star in the NFL, sadly, his career has been tarnished by the Bungles. Does anyone else, other then me, ever see Akili Smith being a good QB?

HELL YEAH! I blame Akili Smith's bad start in his career to the Bengals coaching staff and management. He IS and WILL BE a star. Sorry if you don't agree, but if given the right opportunity in the right place, he can be great. He has shown flashes, the 250 yd game in 2000 (maybe 2001?) season. Just give him time... if Packers get him and Favre calls it quits, don't expect Pederson to do anything! LoL.

I dont think he will ever do anything. Maybe he needs to go to the NFLE for a little while and work on his skills. I could see him going to N.O. also. BUt still don't think he will ever do anything. Could be wrong. I like the kid, but just dont think he will ever produce much anywhere.
I wisj him luck, but will bash him next year IF?WHEN he doesn't do anything...FANTASY WISE he is always a wasted pick.

I think a fresh start may do him some good, but it depends on where he goes. Favre would be a good tutor. The Rasider would be a good fit, Al Davis likes those castaway players alot.

I don't think a comparison to Ryan Leaf is applicable in this case.  Akili Smith was never a guy with a bad attitude or the general disinterest of Leaf.  He just landed with a bad team and couldn't make the plays early in his career.

Like Akili said, he is happy to be released because he feels he can start all over.

With the right team and some coaching, he could be a decent QB in my opinion.  Not sure GB is the best place for him though.  Oakland would be a really nice fit.
