Diamond in the rough: Onterrio Smith

I think this guys will surprise most. He will step right in as the starter from day one IMO. He has all the tools to do so. Wms will still steal Tds and Chapman will see some time too. They want to see what they have in Smith. Bennett will not be back until late Oct as the put him on the PUP(week6). I think once O. has the spot he wont look back, barring injury of course. I see him getting 1050/6-7 TDs and 30+ catches too. He is not as fast as Bennett, but has good vision, is quick enough, and natural running skills.
I think the Vikes wanted Bennett to take the safer/long term option, dumbass, as the vikse wont compete this year. I still think Bennett will be a none factor after O. shows what he can do.

I agree. Onterrio will go over 1,000, maybe 5 TD and I'm going out on a limb and saying 40+ catches, that's where he excels most... receptions. Anyway, good to see some ACTION over at the gridiron!

One thing that I thought was funny and entertaining, O. Smith knick-named himself "SOD" during the Mini-Camps. That stood for "Steal of the Draft." Which many people believe, including myself. I had hoped that the Cowboys would take him to add some depth in the backfield. I think he will do excellent. He played high school in this area and the only thing that was keeping him from STARDOM was a problem between the ears. Sometimes maturity and opportunity meet at the right time, and if they do for him, there might be no limits to what he can do on the field.

That's assuming that he has the right attitude.  If he looks at the Bennett injury as a free-ride to the #1 position, he'll have some serious trouble.  I don't think he'll post Bennett-like numbers this season.  I figure 700-800 yards and 4 TDs is more likely.

You guys are close to convincing me to draft him.  I'm worried that he will get drafted higher than I would like due to all the hype.   He should be rated no higher than Bennet was in my opinion.

Isn't there a chance Bennet could return this season or is he out all year?

Even if Bennett returns towards the end of the season, if O. Smith lives up to his hype, I can't see them putting Bennett back on the field.

Onterrio Smith has the potential to be the 2003 star of the rookie class - exceeding Rogers and Andre Johnson (WR's generally struggle in their first year) and Larry Johnson (if Holmes returns like he should).  Are we looking at the Clinton Portis of 2003, where opportunity can create a future FF stud?

I agree with the above mentioned by JetDoc.
Every year there seems to be one real good fantasy Rb rookie that blows up.Smith should be that guy!

Smith may be the steal of my fantasy draft and hopefully I will be the lucky owner to nab him
