HOT off "the Gridiron Newsstand", here is the initial AP report that came out... http://www.ajc.com/falcons/content/sports/falcons/0803/17earlyvick.html. Great thread title, Chumpzilla, by the way! "Michael Vick Update"... Hopefully we can keep ALL (future) updates on Vick and this injury on this thread so as to keep ONE nice and tidy, comprehensive, focused running resource documenting it! That's the way to do it! I am also pleased to see us avoid redundancy by not having different dudes, just rushing to post, starting like a dozen of these Vick threads (like you'll prevalently see elsewhere).

Here is a tid-bit from FANBALL: Falcons: Vick could have ligament damage The News Mike Vick got some good and bad news about his ankle from his doctor Andrew Bishop on Sunday. The good news is upon reading Vick's X-rays Bishop was encouraged because the bone was not displaced. "It's a very clean break," the doctor told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Typically, it takes six weeks for a bone to heal," Bishop said. "That just means the bone is healed, it doesn't necessarily mean everything else is as it's supposed to be. It could be as little as six weeks. It could be eight, 10. We just have to wait and see." The bad news is the doctors still don't know if Vick has ligament damage and won't for another 10 days. If they find serious ligament damage, then Vick would have to undergo season ending surgery. Our View We’ll know more in the next seven to ten days if Vick is able to come back October 5 against the Vikings, so if Mike is already on your team we suggest not trading him until then. If you haven't drafted yet, this would be a good opportunity to get him at his lowest value in about a year as your second or third quarterback. When Vick returns, he'll prove to give resourceful owners great value.

Here's ALL the latest between the little war of words between Reeves and Vick regarding when he "should" be expected back in the Falcons' lineup brought to you by sources on "the Gridiron Newsstand": http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/mld/ledgerenquirer/sports/football/nfl/at lanta_falcons/7136796.htm; http://www.atlantafalcons.com/gameday/003/580/; http://www.ajc.com/falcons/content/sports/falcons/1003/31falcons.html. It looks like we're going to be waiting one more month.... at least. All I would ask, though, is... If they ain't makin' the playoffs anyway and if he ain't really 100%, why bring him back at all this year? I really don't think it will really matter for next season, that is if the argument that there is some value to just getting him some live game action is made.

| I think that is the argument. Vick has not had any real game action with Peerless Price as his wideout. I imagine Reeves would want to let him play on the ankle to get any butterflies out of his system before the season is over.

| Exactly, why risk another injury. If they have no shot at the playoffs. Then the rest of the season is essentially an extension to the 2004 pre-season & should be treated as such.

Here's "The REAL Feed" read: Vick won't start but might play Sunday ESPN: NFL (26.11.2003 18:28) Reeves surprised at Vick's improvement ATLANTA -- On a day when he undertook his most extensive work yet in practice, and moved up from the "scout" team to the second-unit offense, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick demonstrated enough improvement that coach Dan Reeves allowed that the third-year veteran could see his first action of the season this weekend. Reeves earlier in the day announced that backup Doug Johnson, despite a record of 1-6, would again start for the Falcons (2-9). He stopped just shy in his...
