Voting on trades in fantasy football is gay! Be men about it! Voting on trades equates to putting someone's intellect and ability to a vote; voting against a trade is like telling the guy he is stupid and incompetent. In 15 years of playing fantasy football, I've never played in a league with such a rule. In any event, that trade is not even that out-of-line. How do you guys get any trading done?

Of course TOTAL obstruction of trading isn't the best idea, because you will always get the occasional moron who will trade McNabb for Rob Johnson. Then again, if you're in a money league, people take that shit seriously...

That's not a valid reason! I hope these dudes are not the kinds of dudes that support government deregulation, and, uniequivocally, First Amendment arguments over arguments for social responsibility and sacrifice. If so, these dudes are inconsistent in their paradigms: this is what's good for society, but not for me. I know I am extrapolating the logic here out a bit far, but what you explain above is FF Communism!

Steg, I'm curious. In your opinion does the salary cap equate to football communism? Why should the league punish those teams who have created larger markets? (Green Bay, SF, Chicago, NYG, Dallas)
If this is a redraft league, could you tell us the rounds the players were taken in? If McNabb was in the 1st and Maddox was in the 2nd (cough cough) and Holt and Ward were near each other you might be able to argue it's a fair trade. But if not, and that's what I suspect, I'm not sure you can get a trade like this to go through in week 1. Maybe try again in week 5 if McNabb is still struggling.

Razz, first, I'm not totally espousing my philosophy here as much as I am pointing out potential/possible inconsistencies in theirs (granted, I don't even know them, though). But, I digress... I am not a through-and-through capitalist pig. Capitalism, especially our brand, has its ills/is on a dangerous course/might have served its historical purpose in the evolution of world economics and may now be on the verge of "maxxing out" (quite ironically)! In any event, though, markets are not something completely, or even for the most part, attributable to or commensurate with a team's efforts. Some cities are just bigger and more populous; cities on the coasts tend to be richer, etc., etc. As such, since this is NOT a facet inherently attributable to or commensurate with the efforts of a team, I have absolutely NO problem with the salary cap. I think it is a great thing, actually. Football has such a better state of affairs than baseball, which is run according to much more of a dog-eat-dog, survival-of-the-fittest mentality. But, in any event, how this all relates to fantasy football is yet another thing. Fantasy football "economics" is a VERY different beast, and the "philosophies" of NFL economics specifically and fantasy football rules specifically have little to no relation, at least with respect to what is herein being discussed.
