Does anyone know Pittman's status as far as court cases? I was offered a trade where I would get Thomas Jones for Doug Johnson in a 2 quarterback league. Is Pittman playing the whole season or is the beater getting locked??

First of all, WELCOME, Rocatano, to "the Gridiron"!  I hope... and truly think you'll like it 'round here!  (Make sure to check your private messages, friend!  Link is in the upper right-hand corner!)

As for Pittman, the specifics are fleeting me at this very moment.  BUT, I am pretty sure that his lawyers have successfully gotten the two court dates, one regarding this latest incident of his running his wife off the road, the other regarding his breaking his probation on another violation because of this latest allegation, pushed back to December and January, respectively (but I am actually not sure which one's which).  The probation hearing is the one of more concern for fantasy footballers as that is the one that they could shackle him up and take him to jail right after.  Point being, if that's the one in December, he may be lost for the last couple weeks of the season.  If that's the one in January, though, he's in all likelihood good-to-go for the regular season.  Maybe someone else can help us here with the specifics.

I hope this helped a little, though.

As of 9/23, Chuckie says:

Bucs head coach Jon Gruden has indicated that he'll scrap his current running back committee and utilize Pittman as the team's feature back.

I picked him up for the time being.

Pittman's owners will always be frustrated.  He never gets the TD's thanks to Allstott.  He is inconsistant as a runner.  He does manage to get 40 yards receiving every week.

I hated him on my team.

Sounds like my experience with Holt last year.  Every game - 80 yards and no touchdowns.  It was a running joke with my FF friends around the country.  Like Stacey Mack the vulture back.  May be the same thing with Pittman and Allstott.  But I was low on the first round draft order and didn't get the stud RBs.  Except for Jamal Lewis in two leagues.  I ranked him higher than most people.  Now I'm doing fill ins when I can.  If Gruden shows Pittman some love for a few games, maybe I can use him and then trade him.  Do you think I'll get anything out of him?

From a Tampa Bay fan's perspective:

they were better off keeping Dunn instead of dragging in Pittman. Dunn, in my eyes, was a hell of a back, yes his size may have 'limited' the carries he had per game, but more times then not, he played BIG in BIG games.
The 1-2 punch of Alstott and Dunn played out well for many seasons.

Like someone stated, Pittman is not consistent enough. He is an impatient runner, and more times then not will try to run through a hole that's not even there.  Though, the positive thing is this, he seems to be improving on his patience. If the legal problems don't get in the way, and he avoids injury, I honestly believe we can see a 1300+ total yardage season. 700 rushing 600 recieving. Though, don't expect many TDs, that's Alstott's job.
