New York Giants Week 5 Analysis

After going 2-1 before their bye week, the Giants host one of the favorites in the AFC to make it to the Superbowl, the Miami Dolphins. Hopefully, the Giants spent their bye week figuring out what the hell is wrong with their defense, which ranks dead last in the NFL, giving up a whopping 404.7 yards a game. Not a good thing with Ricky WIlliams rolling into town. The G-Menn, on the other hand, rank 6th in total offense, averaging 348 yards a game. Miami is 11th in D, and 13th in total offense. Should be a good game in the Jersey Meadowlands this Sunday.

Kerry Collins: Kerry should have a good showing againts the Miami pass defense, which ranks at the bottom of all pass defenses.

Collins: 310 yards, 3 td's, 1 int

Tiki Barber: Miami's tough run defense may make it a rough day for Tiki. He's had the bye week to fix his fumbling problem too. I predict he'll have a decent, but not a spectacular game.

Barber: 65 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving

Toomer/Hilliard/Shockey

The terrific trio shold have a solid showing this week too. Miami will have trouble covering all the Giant receivers. Hilliard has turned in to a nice possession receiver to compliment Toomer as the deep threat and Shockey as safety valve.

Toomer: 125 yards, 2 td's
Hilliard: 75 yards
Shockey: 45 yards, 1 td
Others: 20 yards

Matt Bryant: 3 xp, 1 fg

Giants Defense: I think the bye week helped everyone get healthy and they were able to fix a few things that may solidify the defense. I think the will cause problems for Fiedler all day and focus on RW running the ball, holding him to under 100 yards (wishful thinking, I know!)

FINAL SCORE: GIANTS 24, DOLPHINS 17

Nice analysis Barnaby.

I am not sure the G-men can pull out a victory is this one.  I think the outcome will fall on Tiki's shoulders.

I do hope your right in Toomers stats.  He only has two touchdowns so far while having 300 yards receiving.  Hillard already has 3 TD while receiving 170 yards.   And watching the games, it seems Hilliard is getting more Red Zone balls thrown his way!
