WDIS?  Wide Receiver Dilemma...
« on: Oct 8th, 2003, 3:17pm »

In my money league I have the following WRs:

Torry Holt v. ATL
Chad Johnson (BYE)
Jimmy Smith v. MIA
Andre Johnson @ TEN
Ashley Lelie v. PIT

We start 3 WRs and they get 1 point for 10 yards (rush/rec) and 6 pts per TD... pretty basic stuff.

With Chad on a bye this week, I need to decide who to sit...

Torry Holt has been great in every game he's played averaging almost 100 yards and a TD.  Andre Johnson faces a weakened Tennessee secondary and gets a ton of looks.  Therefore I'm thinking of sitting either Smith or Lelie.

Thoughts?

I would sit Jimmy.  Miami's secondary is starting to live up to their billing and Smith is notorious for following up a big game with a clunker.  Also, I like the prospects for the Denver passing game this weekend at home against Pittsburgh.

Yeah sit Jimmy, b/c Miami will likely control the ball all day long.

I would sit Smith as well. I just wonder how healthy Plummer will be

We agree that the Dolphins will hold the ball and score.  Fo that reason I would start Smith.  He still has something to prove and the Dolphins have been prone this year to give passing yards and big pass plays.  Yes they are getting better.  But, if Miami is ahead then the Jags have to pass.

Steelers have been tougher against the pass so far.  I'd start Smith over Lelie this week.

Does the fact that Plummer might not play change anyone's decision to start Lelie?

I ended up going with Jimmy Smith over Ashley Lelie (based primarily on Plummer not starting).  The voting was close (4 for starting Lelie and 3 for Smith), but I went with my gut after all was said and done.  Neither did much, but Smith did get a bit more yardage (and 6 points) for me.  Thanks for the advice.

It looks like it was a real no win or lose situation unless your game came down to the wire.

Hopefully some one will come to the forfront.

This was a pivotal game for me.  I was 4-1 (lost last week when 4 starters had byes) and played the #1 (and only undefeated) team in my league this weekend (he's my best friend too - more incentive to win).

Yesterday was also my son's baptism, so I didn't get to log on in the morning.  I wanted to switch my QBs (from Maddox to Green), but couldn't find time to get to a computer.  Maddox scored 7 and Green scored 37.  So I have 30 points on my bench.  Now I'm going into tonight trailing by 32 points with Torry Holt still on my roster.  I could have easily gotten the 3 points to beat him, but 33 from Holt (150 yards, 3 TDs?) is going to be very difficult...
