Packers - Favre's Thumb
« on: Oct 20th, 2003, 6:37pm »

Here is what's on "The REAL Feed":

Fractured thumb shouldn't sideline Packers' Favre
NFL.com (20.10.2003 15:14)
Brett Favre has a broken right thumb that's not serious and shouldn't prevent him from continuing his NFL quarterbacks record 197-game starting streak.

Here's the reports from the local sources on "the Gridiron Newsstand":

http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2003/10/20/1/;

http://www.jsonline.com/packer/news/oct03/178642.asp.

All I know is that injured thumbs have brought down many a great quarterback... I would at least be just the slightest bit wary about Favre until he hits the field again and shows us that all is fine.

Here's the current read on "The REAL Feed":

Packers QB Favre held out of practice
NFL.com (27.10.2003 22:11)
Brett Favre and his broken right thumb were given a rest during practice Oct. 27, but Favre is expected to be cleared to throw by Oct. 29.

Here's what the Packers' official web site, available on "the Gridiron Newsstand", reports:

http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2003/10/27/1/.

Knowing Favre, he will play heck-or-high-water.  But, we all know the havoc thumb injuries can wreak on quarterbacks(' careers).

This is a mistake on Sherman's part.   Ripken kept trotting out there long after he was effective, and I think you're seeing the same thing with Brat Farte.  Pride in playing through pain is one thing; you expect a player to want to go out there no matter what.  Shermanneeds to pull the rug here and sit Favre.

A couple years ago Farte hurt his thumb and played the season anyway.  He played very poorly and cost his team several games that year.

I see this as more a statement of mistrust in Pederson than a vote of confidence in Farte's thumb.

Favre practices, but there are "buts".  Here's what's on "the Gridiron Newsstand":

Last night was exactly what I was referring to above.  It was painfully obvious (3 fumbles!!!) that Farte couldn't hang on to the ball, yet he refused to sit, and ultimately cost his team a chance at tying it with a late fumble.

I am no Viking fan but I agree....he is hurting the team now.  His streak is appartanly more important than winning.

I think he thinks he has some chance at Marino's records.  No chance in hell!
