QB Options for this week
« on: Oct 29th, 2003, 11:25pm »

Currently I have Brady and Carter as my QBs. Carter's schedule gets tougher, while Brady has been hot and cold all season.

On the WW are Pennington, Griese, Tuiasosopo, as well as Carr (inj), Leftwich (inj?) and other lesser QBs.

I'm looking to drop Carter, and add someone else (only 2 QB spots on team).  Who should I pick up for this week?  For the rest of the year, I'll see who is hot and who has a good matchup.  I've already resigned to the fact that I'll have to play musical QB this year.

I'd hang onto Brady and start him when the matchup is favorable.

Since Carter doesn't look to have any more easy games until possibly week 17, drop him and grab Pennington now.

I would agree with Philly myself Pennington is probably the best pickup. As it appears the Jets will go the rest of the way with him.
Leftwich may also be a good pickup, injury is minor and he will play this week. He will be used the rest of the way also and looks like he may put up some good numbers. Leftwich is more valueable in a league that doesn't penalize severely for ints.
Griese may well post the best number's of this group, he is probably the best qb, but durability is an issue with him. Will he contine to have the job? and if so will he last all year? He maybe a gamble but he has the greatest upside and you still will have Brady who may well put up better #'s as his wr's get healthier and also his arm.
I like Tuiasosopo myself but he may or maynot have the job for the rest of the year depending on how the raiders and gannon do.
Carr has become a decent fantasy qb this year, owns the job, but of course is of no help to you for the next  few weeks.

Thanks for the opinions fellas.  I was thinking of picking up Tui for this week only, since he plays against Detroit.  Pennington would be nice if he performs like last year, and I agree with the issues with Griese (and with the opinion that he may be the best QB of the bunch).  Someone just dropped Kerry Collins this week too, so he might be available next week, unless someone with lower priority picks him up first.

Collins is still putting up decent numbers if he could just clean up the damn int's.  I have him in one league...so it all depends on how much you are dinged if he is worth it or not.

I have to wrestle with the Griese, Tuai, Leftwich problem myself as I grabbed them all. I also have Brady. I will have to throw one back  eventually , maybe two.

Coach,

who are you starting today?  Seeing that Detroit gives up the most points to QBs, I am inclined to pick up and start Tui over Brady and Q. Carter, however, this being his first start is a little worrysome.  Griese looked  good last week, but Pennington looked rusty.
