Jaguars - Kevin Johnson SIGNED!

I just heard on ESPN that the Browns released Kevin Johnson. What the hell is Butch Davis thinking. What a friggin idiot!! Here is the OFFICAL news, but no articles yet: http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/ Kevin Johnson has not been a superstar, but he has been far from a dud. Especially in that receiver by committee. So the question is, where does he end up? The Eagles have their eyes on him for a while. I personally think they will get him. Other teams as a possibilty in my mind include Baltimore, Chicago, Arizona, San Diego, and the JETS. Does this improve Northcutts and Andre Davis value? Is Kevin Johnson going to be worth anything? And finally, this proves to me that Butch Davis is an idiot. Dumb decision to suspend Green(legally and contractually), dumb decision to bench Couch, and dumb decision to cut Johnson.

Mark Eckel (Trenton Times beat reporter for the Eagles), who has a close personal relationship with Kevin Johnson (who is a Trenton native), also indicated that he heard Jacksonville may be interested. An Eagles official (anonymous of course) indicated he didn't think the Eagles would claim him off waivers. If Johnson does clear waivers, which is unlikely because his salary is not too outrageous and signing bonuses have already been paid by the Browns, then things could get interesting. Obviously Johnson would want to land in Philadelphia first and foremost, and Reid will get lambasted if he doesn't pursue him, but Reid indicates that he is happy with his current receiving corps. I think Johnson can still be a very effective WR in the NFL. He is well-liked by his teammates, but his feud with Butch Davis ultimately ended his time in Cleveland.

| I'm not sure, but I don't think we did. Since the Eagles are 6-3, they are way down on the waiver priority list. The thinking was that if he did make it through waivers, then, as an unrestricted free agent, the first place he would consider would be Philadelphia.

This, currently topping "The REAL Feed", is a VERY "revealing" piece: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1661119. It tells the juice behind KJ's release, but it also should also provide a dose of reality to you fantasy Couch supporters. Again, for better or for worse, that I don't know, Couch is in the same dilemma, a dilemma that has been fairly, though subtly, obvious for some time, i.e., if you "zen" it, the "reality" of Couch's goose being cooked has been a foregone conclusion for quite a while, at least since Holcomb was declared the starter after training camp. In any event, this piece fills in the puzzle quite a bit.
